Atticus

Atticus is one of the cute little businesses along Hyde Park corner that has been around for a reasonably long amount of time. I remember popping in here many times, whilst living in Hyde Park, for an emergency birthday card, surprise little trinket or simply a cheeky little mooch whilst I was having a bit of a wander.
They house a number of sweet little items, from jewellery pieces, ornamental bits, a few garments, incense and all the other usual suspects for a gift shop of this kind. I’ve always found the staff to be really pleasant, never pushing for a sale or anything, and it’s always been pleasant to browse around in spite of the modest space in the shop.
Price wise you can easily spend up to £30, depending on what you want, but for that you’re more than likely to pick up a number of little bits and bobs! If you’re looking for that emergency sentiment, as a thank you/​well done/​happy birthday you can easily grab something in the region of £5-£10 so it’s a great shop to know about in a pinch.

Atticus does seem like the typical card shop on entry, selling much the same as the shop over the road. Lots of artsy bits and bobs to vaguely make it seem like you’ve ‘really thought’ about the Christmas presents this year, and ‘hey look at me, what creative stocking fillers’. Really, everything does seem rather samey samey with little decorative boxes and candles, with a bit of insense on the side. On closer inspection though, Atticus has a rather lovely jewellery section and also sells some clothing. I once saw a bracelet I really liked the look of as I walked past. I went in and asked how much it was. Unfortunately, I was not prepared to shell out £15 on it, but then she said she’d knock off two thirds as it was missing a (MINISCULE) stone. I walked off very happy with a £5 braclet! The staff are friendly and they are always having a natter with various people when I go in.

Atticus is located in Hyde Park corner! If you live on the outskirts of Leeds this i wear you get your vintage accessories and have a classy coffee by the park! Atticus therefore were very clever in placing there shop here, as I feel if it was to sit in the city center their custom would reduce!
It is a cute little nic-​nac and gift store almost like a little treasure chest with sparkly gifts and greeting cards! Cards are unique and often very funny and cute gifts such a trinket boxes, one off shot glasses and espresso coffee cups are all perfect as presents!
It’s just a little odd, you wouldn’t go in and buy yourself anything from Atticus really, unless you were having a really self-​indulgent down day! Prices are a-​ok at reasonable prices especially on jewelry offering some real bargains!
Pop in if you are meeting your pals for coffee or walking your dog in Hyde Park and you might find some nice cute nic-​nacs for your mates birthdays! Don’t go out of your way however if you aren’t in the area, it’s nothing particularly spesh.

Atticus is another one of those shops that looks just like a dozen others all selling the same stock, and in many ways it is, but in amongst the ‘amusing’ cards of animals wearing costumes and endless pointless trinkets, there are some genuinely beautiful things here, and they’re surprisingly low priced given the shop’s location. Perfect if you’ve forgotten a friend’s birthday and have very little money (not that I’d ever do such a thing), they stock a wide range of jewellery around the £5-£10 mark that looks as if it cost a whole lot more. Get the lovely staff to gift wrap it for you, and it’ll be our little secret…

Fantastic little card and gift shop perfect for last minute cards and presents. Really good range of cards for all occasions and there’s always a good selection in the sale for £1 of you wanna stock up.
Loads of really nice gift ideas too; jewellery, bags, money boxes, funky strings of lights. They change the stock really frequently so there’s always something new to look at. I just bought 8 cards and 3 little presents for just over £20.
The lady who runs the shop is really lovely and helpful and will gift wrap anything you buy in all kinds of different paper. Also, if you spend over a fiver you get a great recycled gift bag which is perfect for handing over your present in!
