Got takeaway from Cherry Tree last weekend. Service was lightning fast and the food was delicious. Cash machine at bloody co-​op was out of action but lady in the takeaway told me I could get cash back in co-​op

A bizarre name indeed for a Chinese takeaway, but don’t let it put you off this old-​school establishment that is a bit of a favourite of people in the know.
A friend of mine, who can only be described as a Chinese-​takeaway connoisseur recommended the Cherry Tree to me a few years ago, citing its BBQ ribs as ‘sensational’. He wasn’t wrong.
The ribs aren’t the only thing this place has got going for it — they do all the standard dishes you’d expect, but with less grease and more flavour than most Chinese takeaways, and the prices are (perhaps due to its almost obscure location) very attractive. Despite all this, it is only the ribs that really set this place apart from the competition — they really are ridiculously good.
