I study Visual Communication at Leeds College of Art so I am regularly in this area, and some days simply can’t pass by without caffeine. I have tried most of the café’s around this area, but for some reason I only tried Froth & Fodder for the first time yesterday! This placed is tucked away underground, which is possibly why I haven’t gravitated to it before — but this is why I loved it. Unsure of what to expect inside I was really surprised at this place — it’s lovely! We only stopped by for coffee to take away, but we wanted to stay! Alas lectures called. It was about 2.30pm when we visited so we had missed the student rush. I was pleasantly surprised to see they still had sandwiches left, and they seemed to have a good veggie selection too which is a winner, as there is some mean sandwich competition around here — I must return to try them! The café is cosy, and seemed a wonderful refuge away from the drizzly grey skies which hung glumly over Leeds yesterday. The cakes looked so good, they have a beautiful bookshelf full of books and wait, BOARDGAMES! Anyway, the coffee! I am a coffee wuss and the lovely barista was happy to make my oh so yummy gingerbread latte with one shot of espresso. It was perfect! So you coffee junkies out there, this place can deliver a strong cuppa joe when you need saving from your dissertation! My friend had a chai latte. I love chai lattes, but they can be inconsistent between coffee shops. It always pained me to say that none compared to Café Nero(a chain, I know :() but people of Leeds! I have found a delicious chai latte! Brought to you from an independent coffee shop at a fraction of the cost of those from the coffee equivalent of ‘The Man’. Who is the man? Ask Jack Black. Considering the barista had been likely to have been harassed by a heck of a lot of students only hours earlier, he didn’t let this dent his genuinely friendly service. I will have to try their sandwiches and cakes soon and see if they hold up to my eager 5* review. Oh when can I return? Well I have only just got my student loan so likely soon — yippee!
