Excellent bar. Good music and atmosphere and great bartenders. My wife left her bag here and they had it the next day.

It had been years since I’d been to Milo. Years. And if I’m honest I never really rated it back then, was always way too busy, the staff were always a little snarky and the place itself always maybe a little too dark and too moody for me. So when I was ‘dragged’ in on Saturday, my suggestion of Maven being disregarded, all I can say is that I was really pleasantly surprised. Great music, awesome staff, good drinks(you gotta love the free pour), a facelift(that I’m sure isn’t recent, but still looks a lot better than I remember), and a really good crowd. There was dancing and drinking and banter and … it was just a fun place to be, and at 2am on a Sunday morning isn’t that all we really want? My only peeve would be that the jagerbombs weren’t bombs — don’t you hate it when you don’t get a shot glass to clink into your tumbler? Well, I do. Besides that, I had an absolutely great time.

I went on a Saturday and this place really is EXPENSIVE for the drinks they serve. I don’t mind paying good money for great beer, but co’mon! The beer isn’t too exciting. £5.50 for a Keo is a bit much(even though the bottle was a 500ml). £3.00 for Red Stripe isn’t bad though! I’m sorry, I’m from South Yorkshire. £4.50 is the limit when it comes to beer. I pay northern prices and if you don’t it’s ‘goodbye Justin’. My main issue is lack of beer on tap. Where is it? I didn’t see any. No beer on tap is a main downer for me. They could have some great local and international beers in here like in Nation of Shopkeepers or North Bar. The atmosphere was great though. Clientele were trendy, not that pretentious; It was really busy in here! The DJ seemed to be having a really good time spinning his vinyl(mostly funk, soul, 70s rock, etc) and it was a great dance. Come here to dance, but don’t come to drink. Id just go and buy a Red Stripe and have a dance. I’m really tempted to give 3 stars, but I’m afraid my gut feeling tells me to give 2. I’m following my gut. Sorry Milo. Drinks ruin it for me. Cave design looks a lil tacky too. Looks like something that belongs in Fab Café!

When it comes to party, Milo well and truly brings it. Fair enough, I’m writing this immediately after having spent most of Live At Leeds in the venue, which by definition means it was an excellent night. But, with regular awesome live music nights, fantastic staff and a decent selection of drinks a normal night will likely be a special night. Take a quirky lay out, mirrors on the ceiling, a hoard of friendly punters, a Brew Dog IPA in one hand and the other in the air, and you’re set for an epic night. It has to be mentioned that the bouncers are ace, and the owner is in one of the finest bands in Leeds, The Reacharounds, so that helps to give extra kudos. Essentially, I’ve been back a fair few times of late, and I can’t find a fault. It’s a rockin’ place full of good folk and excellent music. Get yourself down there and sink a few sometime soon.

Great little bar with a good relaxed independent character goin on. Nice selection of beers on offer(it ain’t often you get Quilmes) and some quality stuff on the stereo. THe cob plaster getup is a nice touch… gives a nice cosy vibe; quality

At the top end of Call Lane Milo is actually one of the best but probably least visited bars down there. It’s relatively small with a subtle atmosphere and warm décor. It plays hosts to live music and has a really good selection of beer. This is probably the opposite of Revolution(further down the road) in respect to atmosphere, clientelle and choice. The seating is comfortable and there’s plenty of space to stand if all the tables are taken, with shelf space to put your drink/bags/coats! Sounds like a little thing but can make a night out much more comfortable! Visit Milo if you enjoy good music, good beer and a casual atmosphere.

Milo is like a tiny little cave with mud molded world, tiny tea lamps and a tiny wee bar! I have drank here a few times over the last few years and enjoyed it, but didn’t find it anywhere to rave about. The good news is that is supports the live music scene, in particular jazz acts and up and coming music from students and graduates from Leeds College of Music. The standard of Jazz is really superb with some awesome acid and more contemporary jazz acts on display on occasions! To conclude, Milo makes a nice change from a quiet drink in the pub however is quite a dark dingy alternative. However if you like this low-key, moody tones this will suit you fine! It is never too busy so is always a good chilled out bevvy!

With its moulded walls and seats creating an atmosphere that’s somewhere between Flintstone’s-style cave and 1970s Wimpy, Milo looks like one of those places that’s spent all its time thinking about décor and no time on the important things like drink and people. Happily, these preconceptions turned out to be wrong when I visited, and I was pleasantly surprised by the relaxed, artsy vibe, friendly bar staff and good drinks selection. Serving Weston’s organic cider behind the bar is always a winner with me, and the music was an unobtrusive selection that managed to be a good backdrop to conversation without being too loud or too cool. In the evenings, DJs and live bands provide the entertainment playing everything from blues and roots to indie and ska, and the free entry policy ensures there’s always a crowd looking for a good time, whether on their way to Wire or staying here to dance into the early hours.

When I first started drinking in Leeds, Milo was one of my favourites. Then it just seemed to stop opening. Rather abruptly, if anything. The good news is that it’s back open on a regular basis and it’s still a great place to start your night out or just as a pre-club watering hole before tottering down the stairs to Wire next door. Milo hosts a variety of different clubnights involving both disc jockeys and live bands, serves food during in the day and is as good a bar as any Leeds to bob in for a simple tipple. The atmosphere’s welcoming and can get lively on a busy night. Oh, and, there’s the delicious Jamaican lager beer, Red Stripe, on tap too. Yeah man.

I have only recently discovered this place(about 3 weeks ago) and I have been there 3 times already! I always have Weston’s Organic Cider which is 3.50GBP but it lasts at least 1 hour. The bar staff are excellent always happy to give me a glass of tap water if I am dancing to the live DJ Funk Music on a Saturday night. The clientele are excellent, totally Chav free — even on a Saturday night! I often go to Wire next door afterwards and end up having a cheap(ish) night out in one location!

I like Milo’s. I like the tables. They’re so pretty, with their recycled plastic-y swirls. Lovely. I like how cosy it is, and the people who work there, and the people who go there. I met a really nice old lady who was there with her toyboy once. She was my best friend after we’d had a couple of vodkas. It’s reasonable price wise — you’d expect to pay a couple of quid for a pint, surely?

Probably one of the more unpretentious bars on Call Lane, Milo doesn’t charge an entrance fee, although the décor, quality of drinks and sporadically apathetic bar staff suggest it should. The Kaiser Chiefs sometimes hang around in here, and before his ‘Control’ fame, actor Sam Riley used to do embarrassing things without people taking photos. Split over two floors, the resident DJs are generally of a good standard, and the downstairs bar itself is a good size, just right for talking to strangers. Bring a bit of money though: at £2.40 for a beer in Leeds, this certainly isn’t the cheapest joint in town.
