By eck lass it’s Yorkshire lad and just as we know it. Sorry, my Yorkshire roots just can’t be contained at times. It’s time for a whippet, flat cap and embrace the grand county that we live in. Oh yes because that’s exactly what the Old Unicorn Inn does. Well maybe not silly hats or ferret racing but good old proper ale done the Timothy Taylor’s way. I’m a big fan of Timothy Taylor’s as it’s brewed locally and always delivers a good pint, so when a place is associated with it you’re always onto a winner. This a place where local people can hang out and not so local people as well. I like a pub that is a place for the community to have a gossip and put the world to rights. That’s what you’ll get. If you want to fill your boots with a nice feed then it’s mission on. Try the Ploughman’s Board for a nice big helping of cheeses, pâté and a local pie too. Just don’t tell the dietician. Or else the appealing looking burgers and sturdy chips are always a good calorie busting winner. Oh and the outdoor area is a real winner. Loads of room and heated as well. A traditional meeting pot more for the community and a place that is more interested in giving us Yorkshireites a good dose of fine beer and food than trying to be one of the faceless chrome infused«super» bars.

The Old Unicorn Inn has a real authentic ‘ye olde’ feel, which is a refreshing change to so many pubs around the area that feel as though they are part of a chain. The Unicorn is a Timothy Tailor pub that also serves a large variety of other beers at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is really friendly and is clearly a favourite watering hole for many of the local community. It’s a good place to watch sport, with around 3 large screens in the main bar area. The food is lovely, if not verging on pretentious(i.e. don’t expect large portions) at around £4−5 for a burger and chips.

Nice local pub just opposite the shopping centre in Bramley. Its a timothy taylor run pub so they do the best ales around, landlord, best bitter and golden best. All great ales! They do the usual pub grub and on a sunday they do a roast for £4.95. Its really tasty but only if you like your vegetables really over cooked! There is a nice beer terrace outside for when the weather is good and a large car park.
