I was massively impressed with Sew Smart. In I walked one afternoon with a pair of trousers that were slightly too short in my hand. A quick discussion with the shop assistant followed and I agreed to pick up my trousers a day later(a same day service is available for £2 extra) with alterations made. The following day my trousers were ready and let down perfectly. What is not to like about that?

The assistants in the shop were very helpful and friendly when I took my dress in to be altered today. It was done in less than an hour and now I can wear it to a wedding tomorrow. Great service and a professional job!

I used this place in March 2010 after being told by my Bridal shop that alterations to my Wedding dress weren’t included in the purchase price!!! I was a bit sceptical as it’s only small shop and obviously my Wedding Dress was a big deal. The assistants were really helpful and friendly. Locked the shop up & closed the blinds so I could use the whole place for the trying on. I had been quoted £139 by the Bridal shop to do the alterations and I’m so pleased I went to Sew Smart instead– a mere £40 to do all the alterations I needed and they did a fabulous job! Don’t let the appearance put you off, their prices are better than any other place in Leeds centre and their work is far superior!

My wardrobe is littered with clothes that I have bought knowing full well they don’t fit me. I always try to summon my inner seamstress but it never seems to find me. I can put a button back on but that’s were it ends. When I finally got it together and cleaned out my wardrobe, I gathered up all my lovely but ill fitting clothes and made my way to this tiny shop on the side of Leeds Markets. There were quite a few things that I needed doing and the guy at the counter dutifully started making a list of things to do. A dress needed a new zip as I bought one too tight; a skirt needed taking up a few inches, a pair of trousers to be turned down. I started reeling off all the alterations without even thinking about how much it would cost. The guy told me to come back the next day and I was a little nervous as to what it was going to cost me. I was really surprised that I had change left over from £10 and was very happy with the work that was done.

Having bought a lovely skirt of red Hessian-like fabric with big spots on it(it isn’t as dreadful as it sounds) from a boutique in India knowing full well it didn’t fit but being absolutely in love with it, I have yet to find somewhere to take the skit in so I can prance around the streets of Leeds with immense gaiety — I came back in May! This little treat of a shop can be found along the car-park/Eastgate side of Kirkgate Market. It is a box-sized shop very handy indeed being in a central position where you can get alterations on those rash buys from mad high street sales. The greetings from the staff may not always be a ray of sunshine but the quality of work is good.
