Popped in here for a quick drink after shopping. Forgot how much i like this bar. It has had a but of a face lift. Lots of big comfy chairs and low tables and nicely positioned tables for eating. Due to it being tuesday and the offer of 2 for 1 on currys we stayed for a while. The currys were excellent, good portions and great taste. The staff were friendly and there was a really nice atmosphere. Its currently all decked out for christmas and looks lovely. Will be back on monday, 50% off the food bill., cant resist!

I have been past this place so many times and it has never appealed to me enough to go in. From the majority of people I have seen going in and out I thought this place had an older clientèle. I saw online that they do a 2 for 1 cocktail offer so decided to give it a try with a friend. This place had a pretty good atmosphere, it was really busy but not too loud. The décor was modern yet cosy and the fact that we were the youngest people in there really didnt matter. We checked out the cocktail menu, which is extensive and all include the 2 for 1 offer. There is a cocktail on there for everyone and they definately do not disappoint. I started off with a passionfruit pornstar martini which was served with a shot of fizz. This cocktail was delicious! You could really taste the passionfruit yet you still got the kick of the alcohol. It wasnt until my friend and I finished our drink and shotted our fizz that we wondered if the shot of fizz is meant to be shotted? Possibly our naivity around fancy drinks or maybe how our brains have been programmed to think that anything in a shot glass is meant to be downed either way our after thought was that the fizz would top this drink off perfectly. I tried a few other cocktails here all of which were so well made and really tasty. The cocktails vary in price but go up to the £9 mark. You can mix and match with the 2 for 1 offer as well so you don’t have to get two of the same drink you just pay the price of the higher priced cocktail. Another added bonus is that the 2 for 1 deal isn’t just a happy hour it is on all day every day! From reading some if the other reviews and seeing this place being compared to Wetherspoons I would really have to disagree. The quality in this place is by far superior yet still affordable. I would definitely recommend people to try this place, I am already planning my next visit to sample some more of their amazing cocktails and give their delicious looking food menu a try!

This just seems like Wetherspoons for wannabe yuppies and city workers who think that place is ‘too chavvy and lower class’. It’s all soulless and boring. Least when you see some ‘grimey’ looking chavs from Seacroft in a bar you an assume that locals go in. When I walk past this place there really is nothing that tempts me in and it just feels like there are no locals in here. It has that chain feel that just frightens me off. There are also too many ‘suits’ and boring people in here too. I just don’t see the appeal. It’s too white, too middle class, boring and soulless clientele and the whole place is zzzzzzz… This part of town is a bit boring mind, with all the financial institutions and legal firms around. You can’t forget about the train station too. My idea of a trip to a bar is not to be stuck with ‘Alan from HR and formal looking Beatrice in some finance role in Lloyds down the road’.

Just no. No no no. It’s like a slightly posher version of Weatherspoons, dressed up as a nice restaurant. I had steak(I like my steaks) and it was like one of these quick cook varieties, and it just wasn’t very nice. When I say medium cooked, I generally mean medium, not well done. The atmosphere was okay, just like you’d get in ‘Spoons I suppose, quite noisy, not the best place to relax. Drinks were okay, I think they do some kind of cocktail deal and they are fairly tasty. I would say okay for drinks, but not for food. Unless you really like Weatherspoons, that is…

This is a great easy place for a meet up. Nothing exceptional but cheap thanks to all the offers. 2 for 1 cocktails every day. 2 for 1 deserts every day. 50% off food on Mondays(which I have frequented a few times) This coupled with the lovely table service we received just made me bump this to a 4 from a 3.

Love the SnL. I usually visit the Winchester location and decide to try this one in leeds. They’ve got great food and its not over the top pricey. The restaurant is huge, clean and great for drinks too. I usually like the Full English breakie, a burger or fish and chips. Try it!

It’s one of those bars that you’d more than likely end up at with a colleague having a drink after hearing him/her hyping it up. Gets pretty busy it seems. Looks like a happening and nice place to be but looks can be decieving. This place is nothing exciting at all. I’d rather go somewhere interesting with interesting people and not boring as hell city workers on their way to the train station with absolutely no imagination and not enough adventure to try out the local bars. Saying this the clientele(mainly office workers and ‘after work pint’ people from the financial parts of Leeds) keep away other potential customers because it just looks like a boring place(and who can blame them?) This place just has no soul like many chains. I suppose it’s a boring/safe enough place for a drink with ‘Alan’ in finance after work. Strictly for the office workers who want to pop their collar after work.

Average town centre bar. Decent range of marginally overpriced drinks, although 2 for 1 cocktails aren’t bad. Staff actually friendly today but on a busy night over stretched and a touch unfriendly IMO. Would come back never the less.

Well, the only redeeming point for me here was that the food was pretty much ok. other than that, our visit here wasn’t a good experience! At the raised seating area entrance there’s a sign requesting that you wait there to be seated. so I waited. and waited. and after 10 minutes I ignored and seated myself. This wouldn’t be so bad, but the place wasn’t packed out and there was loads of empty tables! Eventually, after a further wait someone came over to serve me and I advised that I was waiting for a couple of others to join me so requested a coffee while I was waiting. a full 15 minutes later this arrived, along with my other guests. I think you get the idea, and I won’t go on any more about it. but waiting was certainly the game of the day here, and it didn’t get any better.

Decent place for an after work drink but often overcrowded and full of arrogant people. Staff are nice though :)

First impression is that the Slug and Lettuce is a popular place, lots of chat going on, music so loud you can’t have a proper conversation over a meal. The food itself was nice, not great, but cheap and cheerful. The dessert was lovely though, so I can recommed the caramel apple crumble with hot custard! The waitress was nice, and looked busy, but she was still pleasant. So if you’re looking for somewhere cheap for a bite, and are not too interested in listening to anything your company is saying, then why not pop along!

I came here when I first moved to Leeds for a brief pint in the afternoon and hadn’t, at the time, realised that this pub was a sort of up market Wetherspoon-style chain. Although it was a long while ago, this place is still going strong and serves a solid pub-style menu to those who wish for a swift and cheap lunch. They serve a selection of alcohol, with cocktails, beers, and the like at reasonable rates, and I dare say the layout of the building is rather pleasant to be in. I haven’t made a trip here in recent times, as I don’t often come by this way on a night out, but I certainly wouldn’t write it off either. Perfect for a simple lunchtime meet up or a few early evening cheap ones to get the mood going before heading out. Simple as that!

A really odd name to call a pub, then I didn’t realise it is part of a pub chain so that was one conundrum solved. It is a typical 21st century pub, well smart and modern, the staff are smart and the service is reasonable but the beer is well overpriced. It’s the sort of pub, where I’ll stay for a couple of drinks before moving on somewhere else!

Right peeps. This isn’t an amazing place but it serves you well. You’ll find happy hour cocktails, even on a weekend, and the food isn’t bad either. A great place to get wonky and wired on the way up to the Headrow, just make sure you get tonked after a visit to the nearby banks. Oh and drink well kids but no your limits.

Slug and Lettuce, despite it’s frankly bizarre name, is actually a rather classy restaurant chain. The food is always top notch and there’s a lot on offer. Quite often you’ll find early bird menu’s that offer discounted meals with cheap drinks, but these only run on certain days(I think). The atmosphere is nice, often frequented by office types after work so you’ll see a lot of suits. Slug and Lettuce is suitable for both friends, parties and romantic meals(assuming you don’t get seated too close to said parties).

The Slug and Lettuce is all right. It’s not horrible, and it’s not dead fancy. It’s one of those mediocre city centre bars that offers the normal, run of the mill menus for people with little imagination. I’m not a fan of the service, and the atmosphere. I’d rather pay the same and go somewhere a bit less chain-y, if I’m honest. Having said that, it’s handy if you’re picking someone up from the station and fancy a swift one somewhere less manky than Beckett’s Bank. _________________ Update — Came here for lunch with work last Friday and was really disappointed so I’ve knocked another star off:( We booked in advance, and told the waitress when we ordered that we were on our lunch break so would need our meals turning around within an hour(we were only ordering one course and there were only 4 of us…) — you’d have thought we’d asked for the moon on a stick. On a gold plate, surrounded by unicorns and fairydust. Our waitress sighed, huffed, flounced and grumped off to ask the chef if it was possible, then came back and said ‘yeah he’ll do it’ before storming off again. It was all a bit horrible really and the food wasn’t impressive enough to outweigh the rubbish service, so I won’t be coming back. In fact, I’ve knocked two stars off now.

The atmosphere is OK, not really a pub and not really a restaurant, so can be a little loud if you’re trying to talk over the meal. But you could be talking about how good the food is, because it’s tasty and filling, and there always seems to be a voucher online somewhere!

I used to walk past frequently and nothing would entice me in here. It is okclean, big glass windows typical of a slug and lettuce but I guess being a student in Leeds it was one for the financial quarter workers around the Park Row area. I knew, better(and cheaper/more exicting and entertaining often) places so nothing great for me personally, but one extra star(on top of the one for existing) for the good lunches and after work pints for suitskeep them away from the places I liked nearby.

This is a good place for a pint after work of if you’re fancying a bite to eat after a day of shopping in Leeds. Every time I’ve been the food has always been top notch and they do great nachos. If you’re fancying a bit of stodge go for a burger, they’re really tasty and filling.

The slug and Lettuce is a national chain. The Leeds branch is located in the heart of the city centre just 1 minute walk from Leeds train station. They have an excellent menu. It is great for a spot of lunch or to crash out after a days shopping in Leeds If you visit the website at the moment they are offering a voucher for 5 pounds off a meal.
