It comes as no surprise that this shop is definitely aimed at teenage girls — you can tell quite simply by its image, its product range and by observing the customers it attracts. The factor that makes Claire’s so appealing is due to their glamorous variety of affordable jewellery that always puts on a shine. Everywhere you browse creates a twinkle in the eyes from bracelets to bangles and earrings — what more could a teenage girl ask for. Plus, the fact that there is an ear piercing service only adds to the encouragement. Claire’s is a treasure chest full of glitzy items with many wish list accessories. Whatever your age, it doesn’t fail to sparkle.

Yes, I know this store is aimed at teenage girls. I don’t care. I got some fab earrings from here and they didn’t cost me a fortune(although one pair made my earlobes blue). Have you seen those mini hats that people are wearing perched in a jaunty manner on the side of their heads? No? Oh well, I guess it IS a bit Lady Gaga and Liverpool isn’t exactly the epicentre of the fashion world. Still, if you wanted one, you could get it from Claire’s.(I think they’re quite funky…) Anyway, this is also the place to go when you’re 14 and your mum has forbidden you to get your ears pierced but you’re with your friends and you dare each other to get it done. Fun and games. Obviously there are forms to fill out and you have to be 16 or over, and I’m not condoning lying about your age. Ahem. So yes, Claire’s is the place to go to get pierced or get funky accessories or cheap jewellery — it’s a treasure trove of stuff and I could quite happily spend an hour in here.

This branch of Claire’s Accessories is situated inside the rundown and depressing chav magnet that is the St Johns centre. It’s location is just off the food court and it is one of the few redeeming features of this otherwise awful place. The shop itself is the same as most branches of Claire’s; eveyrthing is crammed in and it’s hard to move around and to look at things; most items are cheap and nasty and yet overpriced and the staff are of little help; I have been in here a few times; even the hairbands break after one use. If they made better use of the space, it would make for a much better shopping experience; the same goes for the miserable service. You can get your ears pierced here if you want to be in full view of anyone passing, how embarrassing!
