I feel obliged to give Flannels 4 stars as I’m too intimated by the prices to look ignorant — just kidding! Flannels really is one of the few places in the city to get your hands on genuine quality gear but it could easily be a daunting prospect to walk around its very formal and quiet surroundings. Luckily I found the staff here to be really friendly with a warm hello and the guy looking after the men’s section happy to start to a conversation and pay an interest in the items I was pretending to be considering buying! The expense is the biggest draw back here and while there are some very nice items I really didn’t think thay the majority warranted the price tags especially in the Ermenegildo Zegna section.

From the outside, this new branch of Flannels in Liverpool ONE looks like a New York store with huge glass windows showing off designer party dresses and eye-catching black and white photos. Once you step inside however, it all goes a bit downhill. There’s no atmosphere and the staff aren’t as friendly or as accomodating as the ones at the Metquarter branch. The music they had on last time I went in was equally disappointing. If none of these things bother you, Flannels have a great selection of women and menswear by designers like Paul Smith, Matthew Williamson, Ossi Clark, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood. Right now, they have some great party dresses, dark stretch jeans and beautifully tailored blouses by Marc Jacobs. For me personally though, it’s all about Sonia Rykiel’s black silk dress with yellow sleeve trims and a bright pink bow. If anyone has a spare three hundred pounds…
