Grand Central Halls

Grand Central Halls are very good compared to come of the halls of residence within the city. However, I would only recommend halls for your first year of Uni, then get a flat with people you know and you won’t have to put up with everyone’s noise and mess all the time (hopefully).
I spent most of my first two years at Uni visiting mates in Grand Central. They are ideally located, fairly cheap and very secure in terms of who can wander in and out. There is a collective living area in the centre of the five high rise blocks that house all students, this is barely used but includes a couple of fruit machines and a big wide screen TV and a few couches.
There are areas within the halls complex where you can sunbathe and have a few cans on a sunny day, but nowhere as nice as Abercrombie square and Falkner Square just 10 minutes walk away. I would recommend these halls over all the other city centre halls as it is a good place to meet people. There are often parties going on that get postered in the lifts of each block so it’s an ideal place to cop off.
