Crown brand, liverpool, atherton Nice pub, real ale. No wifi, unless you have a UK mobile, which I don’t think as free wifi. so, 3 stars for an otherwise 4 star place. I also hear that their quizes are quite ok. But, be careful, they will definitely take your pint glass when it has ounces left in it, and I strongly suspect, well, ok, when you hand over a 20 pound note, just remember to say, ‘out of twenty, mate’, or use a credit card if you are not local. If you keep these warnings in mind, then, it’s a-ok, a 3.

Visited with family other weekend. Most of us went for the carvery — which was with unlimited veg, potatoes, chips for £4.15(Mon — Sat). The different meats were Beef, turkey and gammon. You also got a Yorkshire pudding. (If you go Monday to Wednesday, the meats are pork, turkey and gammon. If you come on a Sunday, its £7.29 but you get more options — roast turkey, beef, pork or mustard glazed gammon, including crackling). I didn’t expect too much. Especially for just over £4. Although the beef looked a bit grey, it was OK. Although I poured a load of gravy on it. The gammon was actually pretty decent. The turkey though was VERY dry. The veg was as expected — mostly boiled to death. However, the potatoes actually tasted really good. Also 15% off when we went — after 7pm. I think the offer me have finished now though? So cant complain too much at that price. If it wasn’t for the potatoes, it probably would have got a 2 from me.

When I came to visit, my uncle took me there twice. Nice place, food is very tasty and the atmosphere there is friendly. Waiters very polite and food inexpensive. Plenty of parking available. Will come back next time I am in Liverpool.

The carvery is lovely and is really good value for money. Greenhills is very popular at lunchtime and it’s very laidback and welcoming. Well worth a visit.

The carvery is dirt cheap, it’s not like, the best roast ever, but it’s pretty good for about 4 quid. Drinks were a little pricey i felt, again, for a family pub, not pricey like a night out in Manhattan.

Only after realising the sole portions of food to pass my lips that day was a Pot Noodle and a bag of Nik Naks(rib ‘n’ saucy flavour) did I decide to eat at the Greenhills. Before that I’d been drinking alone by the toilets on possibly the most depressing of my booze jaunts. Once I’d recruited a hardy friend who actually knew what a carvery was we could begin. The pub side of the place is decent enough but there is a tangible sense crackling through the air that everybody is just waiting to eat. Once you’ve got your little ticket you’re led through to the dining area where people glutton out on three different kinds of dead livestock and as much veg as you can be bothered going back for. The roast dinner was indeed a delicious interlude to my day but the bustle and noise got on my nerves towards the end. Plus the pub is miles from anywhere so you’d either have to be eating with family or ready for a trek.

The Greenhills is a family run pub in the middle of suburbia. Renowned for its carvery dinners, you will struggle to get in on a weekend, especially Sundays, even though the price is higher than on a weekday. Weekdays are just as busy mind you, with professionals from the local area clamouring to get a quick lunch deal on their midday break. Service isn’t necessarily fast as they seem to employ the local village idiot and I invariably tend to get him waiting on my table, and when you consider that its a self-serve carvery, you wonder how hard it is to get drinks and cutlery THAT wrong. Having said that, my mum insists that it is the best carvery in the city, and whilst I admit that the food is good, I wouldn’t exactly rave about it. The pub offers other food and light bites, so if you don’t fancy a roast there are alternatives, and even though it is in the middle of nowhere the patrons are regular and many, so it never seems to struggle for business.

A very modern pub with lots of parking outside. It is aimed at the family and those who wish to dine. They offer the traditional carvery which you can help yourself too — but they serve the meat. The roast potatoes are gorgeous and you can go back for more and more. The food is extremely cheap and the atmosphere is very good. On the occasions I have been there the staff have gone out of the way to look after my family. Bearing in mind the small cost for the meal you are treated like a King.
