Revised; Upon reflection of my initial review I’ve decided to update it. With major brands we(mostly) have an expectation of products and services. when we think of Starbucks or McDonald’s we have a fair idea of what we will experience when we go there, no matter where we are in the world. With H&M my hope was the same. I’ve been traveling for two months and wanted to get just a basic lightweight sweater and I found one. But my experience with the staff prompted me to go elsewhere for my purchase. When an issue arose, instead of working to a resolution I received an unhelpful response. My hope is the staff were just having an off day. Outside of that experience they do offer a nice variety of clothing for all ages.

H&M is a large store, spread over 3 floors. It sells clothing and accessories for men, women and children. The store is bright and modern looking. The clothing sold here is a bit bland in my opinion. Everything is very samey and I’ve rarely found anything eye catching or unique here. I mainly come here for plain tops for work which are usually inexpensive and of a reasonable quality. They have a good range of sizes and also a maternity range. The children’s section is bright and colourful and has some lovely quirky items. Its just a shame that the rest of the store doesn’t have the same sort of stuff. H&M is OK, but don’t expect to find anything special here.

My past few reviews have focused on mainstream stores and high street chains and this is because I felt that the way these places are run in Liverpool was too good not to mention unfortunately this H and M branch is not one of the better establishments I have come across. I may be a tad biased in that I have never been a fan of this particular chain but I really do feel that this store is somewhat below the level it should and indeed could be at. The store seems to have very little choice especially when it comes to the men’s section it is almost as though the bulk of male clothing has been forsaken in the name of female shoppers and children’s clothes. Now I realise that the store may well be playing to their strengths here however I believe it is unfair for one section of the public to have less choice than others around them. On the whole this store could do much better and it has the potential to do so I just hope that this is fulfilled.

H&M is an adequate place to look for clothes. It is located opposite to the popular River Island store but seems to fall a little short perhaps(as sometimes they don’t have what I’m looking for). I do find the clothing a bit disorganised too. H&M is also certainly more targeted towards women since they do have a majority of women’s wear. At times, there are reasonable sales but for me, it doesn’t rank up there with shops like M&S. Whilst there is some decent clothing, it all depends on one’s taste and how much you’re willing to pay. If you’re looking for value for money, you’ll be lucky to find it at H&M.
