Keiths Food & Wine Bar

Keith’s is a wine bar on Lark Lane, where I currently live. It is a rustic, bohemian, kind of place where you’d expect to find all kinds of misfits like myself. The décor is shabby, but that’s all part of the charm, to me.
There is a good selection of wines on offer and reasonably priced priced too. Even the house red is worth buying.
There are some bottles of beer available also, but not a huge selection. I know it’s chiefly a wine bar but this is an area where I think they could improve — maybe get one or two on tap.
The atmosphere in there used to be great, full of hippies, poets, punks and all assorted types. These days it has lost a little of this vibe, I feel. It’s still good enough but a little too ‘generic’ and like any other bar at times.
The food isn’t flashy but it is tasty and has one or two rather unexpected options on the menu.
Overall it’s a cracking place to pop to for a quick bite and reasonably priced wine. Keith’s is kind of bar that’s fun to go in big groups, I feel, all sat around a big table. Enjoy. Just don’t expect it to be glossy… Keith’s is in need of a lick of paint and proud of it.

Keiths is a great place to visit, great ambience, fantastic friendly staff, the décor and interior is outdated but it gives this place a character, a place which is always packed an evening and lunch times. I have read the comments on the toilets, the toilets may be old but they are very CLEAN!

A cheap dive, with many local regulars who’ve not missed a day of Keith’s wine in a decade and more.
The menu is ok, you won’t get the most amazing food you ever tasted here, but there’s value for money. There are vegetarian options. Opening times are all day every day, except around Christmas and New Year. You can reserve tables, too. Service depends on the mood of the waiter and your meal will be taken back into the kitchen if you are not alert and fast to claim your meal, when the kitchen staff walk past you shouting out the order.
I’ve had an overdose of the place some years ago, but others might still enjoy this quirky dive.

Relaxed friendly atmosphere with a good selection of wines. The food is usually good too. The main thing that lets Keiths down is the shocking state of the toilets. Truely horrendous.

Keiths is, in my opinion, one of the best places to eat out in the Northwest.
The atmosphere at Keith’s is relaxed, warm, friendly, bohemian and a little eccentric. The tables and chairs are rickety and mismatched, but this only adds to the relaxed atmosphere.
The food is varied and the menu changes often. You can get anything from a portion of the soup of the day to larger dishes and platters.
I highly recommend you try the bacon and cream cheese bagel. it may sound basic but it tastes indulgent and luxurious, particularly the morning after the night before. There are also many different vegetarian options which are extremely tasty. the menu is affordable and the portions are generous.
The bar stocks a variety of continental beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. They also have a variety of coffees and teas, the pot of tea for 2 being a very popular choice.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Service is usually quick, except when the place is full, which is completely understandable. If there is a delay the staff are very apologetic.
Keith’s is suitable for those dining alone, in small groups or also in large groups. If there is space the staff are happy for larger groups to move tables together to accommodate everyone. It is suitable for any ages from small children upwards.
Keith’s is full of character when it comes to the surroundings, staff and customers. You will never leave there without a smile on your face and full stomach.

I’ve never had a bad meal at Keith’s and the food quality was always excellent. That said, the food isn’t the main reason people come to Keith’s — the wine list is as long as my last university assignment and a bargain (many bottles under £10).
A non-​regular or tourist would probably be disgraced at the place, I mean it is in dire need of a lick of paint but most people let them off as this adds to the charm. It’s a very bohemian place, nothing pretentious about it whatsoever.
There is art displayed on the walls, most of it for sale, and the tables are all mismatched, with candles lit in the evenings. It’s really difficult to get a table here as it’s always busy and there can be quite a wait for food but it’s definitely worth it.

I don’t have a clue who Keith is (probably not Chegwin) but his wine bar is one of the more urbane places to sit on Lark Lane. Get a seat by one of the enormous windows and you can watch the passers-​by and jaywalkers outside, pretending you’re minutes away from scrawling some beatnik poetry about the mundanity of the socio-​economic régime.
If you’re with others, or just not such a pretentious newt, Keith’s works well as an afternoon meeting point or somewhere to go that won’t be full of lairy scum. This is largely down to the drink selection, there’s no taps on the bar for instance, so you’ll be forced to consider your choice well before ordering.
As for the toilets, it was endearing how awful they were, like finding out that friend of a friend who seems cool in fact has their own disgusting foible.

For a self confessed wino, this place is perfect. The lettering faded on the front it smacks of the cheap and the cheerful. The décor, although looking as though it’s been through a bit of wear and tear doesn’t put me off. Instead, I feel like I’m living la vie bohème in Montmartre. The tatty, worn look is rather endearing and the food is average, with stuff like nachos and wedges available, but all you really want is an accompaniment to the bottle of red you just bought so it’s not a big deal. In my humble opinion, c’est très bon!

Keith’s is a boho haven. Nuff said.
Not remotely pretentious or overpowering, this is where you can sit and wonder if the person on the next table is an artist, or in a band, or just misunderstood man! — chances are, they’re all three. Somewhere students who are striving to escape studentland end up sipping wine and discussing which Provence they prefer, this is a chilled bar with a mix of ages and backgrounds.
The furniture is sparse and not particularly comfy, and there’s a great noticeboard with umpteen million flyers pinned to it advertising various live music events etc. The food is served quickly and is decent quality, although the menu is nothing unexpected. Altogether a jolly decent place to sit and ponder the meaning of life.

Keith’s epitomises that part of Lark Lane that longs to be bohemian and arty.
It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff are often happy to put off closing up if there are enough people enjoying their wine and with a consistently changing array of art on the walls from the area’s rich artistic community, you get that Parisien, boho feel to Keith’s stretching back from the Lane’s more diverse past.
The food is nothing outstanding but it is cheap and cheerful and freshly made but what do you care about eating anyway when starvation and poverty drive your artistic desires, or whatever excuse you have to sit on your arse sipping wine all day.

Keith’s is a cracking place for a cheap but different meals from usual pub grub. Plenty of wine on offer and a few beer selections.
The menu changes quite often and the selection of foods is varied.
Generally it tends to get very busy but you can reserve a table if you phone up before hand.
The décor is a bit shabby but i suppose it adds to the atmosphere.
HOWEVER it get’s shabbier as you go further towards the back and the toilets are an absolute disgrace, i am genuinely suprised that the owners have let the toilets deteriorate to the extent that it wouldn’t suprise me if they were closed down. For the sake of a lick of paint and new toilets Keith’s has let itself down badly.

An ex-​boyfriend and I were frequent visitors to Keith’s over a period of two years. We never had a bad meal and the food quality was always excellent. The wine list is enormous and very very cheap (many bottle under £10). Stumbling out of Keith’s, having had a couple of bottles of excellent Portuguese red, was a regular occurance and I really miss the place!

It can be extremely difficult to get a table, no matter what time or day you visit and the wait for food can be lenghty on occasion. It’s always worth it though and the selection of food is great. Prices for food are very cheap and a main course is generally around the £6 mark.
Don’t go to Keith’s expecting glamour or polish. It’s rough and ready and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This place is a real shocker. It may have been a cool palace to go to in the 70’s but times have changed and this has not moved on. It smells of the toilets which is really nice when you’re eating. It also got slated by the Environmental Health department of Liverpool City Council. There are better places on Lark Lane

Keiths is a place that could never be duplicated anywhere else — given that the place undeniably has character. This is because of the old wooden tables, the random assortment of chairs, the ageing décor and the strange layout of the building.
It’s pretty cheap as well, and very good for students — but not just for those who are strapped for cash — those who are quite arty or avant garde tend to congregate here.
This place overall is excellent. They have a brilliant choice in background music and the lighting here at night with candles is great.
There are a couple of down points which is why it doesn’t get the full 5 stars. I think that although it has character, it is getting very tired now and could do with a lick of a new second hand paint and some of the furniture now needs replacing. It’s also very busy so you are more than likely not going to get a seat and it can be very slow. It also has very manky toilets.
But I think the atmosphere and the clientèle make up for all this, and the uniqueness of the place is a definite selling point.

I know loads of people love Keith’s and always rave about it but i have to say it’s not one of my favourite places. Situated in a lovely area, you can’t beat Lark Lane it does what it’s supposed to, serves winne and gives you somewhere to sit. I’ve always been a bit disappointed by the food on offer, but it may have improved as I haen’t been there for quite a while. Full of students and arty types who tend to make it their own so I always feel like you’re allittle bit out of place if you don’t quite fit in. If you are looking for somewhere to share a nice bottle of wine and a chat then this is your place but don’t expect anything more than that.

Situated near the popular sefton park it is well liked by students and locals alike. Apart from the wine it also serves food aswell which is to a good standard. Most of all though the friendly local atmosphere is the real advantage of this place.

Keiths wine bar is located on, and in a lot of respects epitomises, Lark Lane. It There’s a huge wine list (obviously) and beer is served by the small, or very big, bottle. The food is fast, good and pretty cheap — sometimes rather adventurous on the specials, but always at least good.
In the night time you’ll find that either there’s a band playing or, in most cases, half the people that arrived for a lunch time snack and stayed put are now rather merry and boisterously enjoying themselves. Watch out for poets trying to sell you impromptu personalised lyrics, or don’t, if you want a smile put onto your face and are willing to haggle for the debatable price of words. After about 6ish most seats are taken so you’ll have to be watchful of any leavers if you want a table.
It’s cheap too — i locked myself out of my flat the other day and spent about 3 hours in Keith’s: ate a nice meal (lamb curry if memory serves) and had two beers for less than a tenner.

It’s Sunday morning. You have a hangover. You need food. KEITH’S IS THE ANSWER!
During my university days, Keith’s Wine Bar was a regular haunt of mine. Situated just off Sefton Park, in bohemian Lark Lane, Keith’s serve a wonderfully tasty and diverse menu ranging from the usual «pub grub» to more healthy options like salads and pasta dishes. It’s all reasonably priced and you can lose many an hour just drinking and chatting in this wonderfully sedate setting. Oh, if you like to «people watch» then I’d say Keith’s is the perfect place to do just that! You get a wide variety of customers here… some magnificently odd!
The décor is made up of lots of dark wood panels and tables and there is a little bar where you can get a variety of drinks. When you finally decide to leave, you can walk off your meal in the beautifully leafy Sefton Park!
