Café food but nice. Its a bit like being in your mums kitchen. homely food(like scouse, cottage pie, lasagne) and really friendly too. mike always comes up to ask you how it is. good for a fry up, bowl of scouse or a lovely buttie

Mike’s Kitchen is a fantastic place to have breakfast or lunch. This is because their prices are reasonable, fry ups are good(not too greasy) and environment is pleasant(although small). You cannot really miss this decent little café on County Road as its sign is big and bold with a picture of a full English breakfast that looks so mouth-watering(my favourite)! I would also recommend their Scouse which is accompanied with either red cabbage or beetroot and a crusty cob. I know this sounds simple but it is a traditional Liverpudlian dish you must try(especially if you’re a tourist) as it consists of a delicious meat and vegetable stew with broth(perfect on a wintry day too). A portion of Scouse would only cost £2.80 which is really value for money. Also keep an eye out for their lunchtime specials for just £2.60 where you can get cold meat on a barm or baguette with salad, can of pop and bag of crisps; a bargain! Mike’s Kitchen is a fabulous place to eat-in or take-out whether or not you’re in a hurry. The service is always efficient and staff are friendly with a good sense of humour.
