We were here on a Friday evening, it was quite buzzing. There were three points when the music volume went up and we were treated to Happy Birthday but Stevie Wonder and there was cake and singing. We chose from the tiny vegetarian range on the otherwise huge menu. The vegetable Pizza was really good mind. The penne arabiata was overcooked but tasty nonetheless. We had the only salad on the menu too and it was fresh and crisp. They had Kozel on tap and prices were fair. Service was very friendly but struggling somewhat on a busy night. We’d happily come back.

Prefer old family owner. New staffs rude and owner lack of people skills. No standards. Disappointed. Down hill.

Very difficult to understand its popularity take a look on trip advisor its near bottom of restaurants in Liverpool area. Why its high here on Qype is a real mystery. In a nutshell mediocre, bland food for the masses. Food by numbers Pasta little better than ‘Dolmio style’ served without any soul or gusto in default décor surroundings with little character or ambience.

So this lovely little Italian restaurant has recently been refurbished because it got way too busy, and it’s easy to see why. It now has a classy bar as well as a stunning eating-area. The place offers traditional Italian dishes, which are always cooked to perfection. I have sampled both the pizza and pasta and found both to be excellent. As desserts are my favourite part of a meal I’m always dismayed when restaurants offer limited choice, but Nicola’s had it all with a good range on offer(from cheesecake to ice cream). The owner makes a huge fuss if it’s someone’s birthday, it was pretty funny everytime the electric banner flashed up some poor embarrassed individual’s name, announcing their day of birth to the world. Definitely a great Italian restaurant to visit.

Although the staff try hard I must say that the food isnt great and you can feel a bit pushed for the table when theyre busy. There are several better Italians in the area(and the street!).

One of my favourite Italian restaurants which never fails to provide a memorable and satisfying meal and is almost always the first choice for a special occasion among our family and friends both young and old. There is always a warm welcome and the service is exceptional with the menu offering a wide variety of delicious dishes to tempt anyone. I would highly recommend the brandy pâté as a starter and they serve the most wonderful marinated chicken kebabs — served with a sparkle! Fantastic pasta dishes and steaks are also worth a look too — mmmmm. A great restaurant in a popular area for eating out.

A quality Italian restaurant. Modern furnishings excellent food and service. They have an electronic banner announcing special occassions for the diners that night and the staff get the whole restaurant to join in with happy birthdays which I thought was a really nice touch!

Gotta be one of my favourite italian restaurants. Beautiful nice modern restaurant. Nice staff. Last time I was here was valentines day and they made me feel awesome. Superb delicious food. Cooked to perfection. Nice prices too. Friend took me from down south and couldnt believe the prices! If its your birthday tell the waiter. You get a free bottle of cheap plonk!

Been here for a long time Nicola’s is very well established in South Road. I have been here a number of time but I must admit not very recently(It’s been refurbished since I last went) The fare is your standard Italian selection and the garlic bread is absolutly gorgeous, Pasta dishes are very average and the Pizzas are great, good place to catch advance Garlic Breath lol. The owner always makes a fuss if you are there for an occasion e.g. Birthday, Anniversary etc. and sometimes if there are enough of you he will give a bottle of bubbly to the table. Very friendly but service can be very slow.
