When working in the Tithebarn area of the city centre, this sandwich shop is as good as it gets, and you know it’s true because come lunch time, there is a queue practically round the block. Considering the amount of other sandwich shops that have sprung up recently, that’s saying something good. When I worked opposite Out to Lunch, I always made sure I was down there by 11.30am at the latest, otherwise the queue would be too long and I’d end up having to go Sayers instead. If you’re ever in the area around lunch time, you’ll know what I mean, and if you haven’t sampled the delights of this place, you need to. I know you’re all dying to hear what sandwich I had, so I’ll tell you. Tomato and mozzarella on brown bread with olive oil and black pepper. Not fascinating, I know, and certainly not the most inventive on the menu, but by god was it a good butty!

Out to Lunch is located on Tithe Barn Street and provides a wide choice of sandwiches, soups and salads. Its always a popular choice for lunch with office workers from surrounding buildings. The staff are friendly and service is of a high quality as are the ingredients used. Service is also speedy considering that sandwiches are made to individual order. The prices are reasonable although not the cheapest in the area but I have never been disappointed yet with either the service or the food. My favourite is the egg mayonnaise with crispy bacon bits — yum! They also do catering and sandwich orders for office meetings etc which are delivered to the door and good value.
