Eee, thar does like a bit of Satterthwaites… or something. Sorry but the name could not be more fitting for this quaint little bakery found near the Crosby coast.
A fine array of cakes and pies can be found inside served by gentile old ladies who could pass for characters in an Ealing Comedy. You can find proper big cakes here too, though they are probably more suited to big occasions and events and not just to take down to the beach and stuff your face in the shelter of a sand dune. Go for the sausage rolls or iced buns for that.

I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a huge fan of cakes and chocolates. In fact, I’ve become quite a connoisseur.
Satterthwaites is an excellent confectioners. With its quaint old-fashioned sign and traditional window display, I just can’t help but walk in everytime I wander past.
Offering everything from freshly baked buns to made-to-order cakes, Satterthwaites is a truly versatile bakery.
My favourite is the bakewell tart, and I believe my grandad is a huge fan of their sausage rolls. With such great offerings of both savoury and sweet goodies, how can one resist?
I recommend picking up one and going to sit by the beautiful marine lake.
