It’s just a name, honest. This is a bloody good pub which is often full even at weekends despite being situated at the business end of town. It has that warm, earthy feel that you expect from Irish bars in Liverpool like Pogues and Shenanigans — I’ll ignore O’neill’s! And this reflected in the friendly staff who don’t mind a bit of banter while they serve you and some hearty pub grub like stew and scouse. The best bit about The Slaughterhouse are its regular comedy nights called, yes you’ve guest it, The Laughterhouse! Now run by the very talented Neil Fitzmaurice(of Peep Show and Pheonix Nights fame) a good standard of comedy prevails every weekend.
