Nice little find, down a dark alley. If it weren’t for Unilocal,I’d never had found it. Good music(mostly rock and metal), cheap but decent beer and ok food. The Burguer wasn’t that big, so don’t expect a fulfilling dinner here rather a quick meal just to prep you up for more beer. Free wifi, young atmosphere, cozy and reasonably well kept. Went on a Tuesday night and didn’t have much trouble finding a booth. The décor could be a little bit tidier though, but for that price you can definitely ignore the minor details.

I went to this place cause I had read the reviews on Unilocal. The prices of the drinks are awesome, they have a nice entrance with outside tables so you can smoke there. Was raining day, but most part of the people were outside(the entrance/terrace has a roof). Pretty crowdy but full of students, a lot of people for other parts of the world. The kitchen only served breakast and Sunday Roast, so we were starving, and we had to move to other place looking for food. The bartenders were ok, but they were looking really tired so I felt a little bit guilty about order another pint. I didn’t notice the music, I was looking for live music, but it seem it wasn’t the day… So I think I had a good experience cause I was with my boyfriend and friends. I only recommend this place if you are looking for cheaper beer.

A unique underground(physically, not socially) student bar. The kind of place you might call a ‘dive’ but not mean anything negative by it. They do cheap food and a few real ales. Had a lovely light hoppy beer called Hop Sack, from the brewer Phoenix.

Hidden away down a side street The Pilgrim has become a firm favourite with students especially those at LIPA or the LJMU Dean Walters building. It is a spit and sawdust type place but full of charm and filled with music and wit. The drinks are cheap and the staff friendly. The long table and booths were a mainstay of my student years with many an end of exam period celebrated here. I’ve spend many a happy hour in The Pilgrim and hope for many more.

The Pilgrim is a great bar to go to in the summer. It is one of the few proper pubs that actually has a beer garden. This means you can sit outside till late at night, with your smoker friends, and put the world to rights. There are large picnic tables to sit on, which can seat a good 10 people at a squeeze, but if there are no tables left there is plenty of standing room, and a nice long wall to sit on for the evening. The worst thing about the Pilgrim, the toilets are really rather minging to say the least. The doors don’t lock, and when they do close you can’t help but worry that you’ll be stuck in there for hours. The sink is dirty too and if you are lucky enough to be there when there is a mirror, it will probably need a good clean. The Pilgrim has a great atmosphere and cheap drinks, its a good place for starting the evening, or bagging a table and spending the whole night there till closing. If you ever need a hangover cure, then give their sunday roast a try. It is inexpensive, yummy and the portions are very generous.

There is actually nothing wrong with student pubs at all, even after your glorious 3 – 5 studiousyears are over. Cheap and cheerful is the order of the day here and that’s fine by me. Now the rustic feel to the place is ratehr a subjective matter, a fine line indeed as some people might not use rustic as a word to explain the décor. None the less as I mentioned before it is a student place and if the punters are rolling in and it ain’t broke, why try to fix it. So if you are low on the old money tank and fancy a cheap and cheerful lunch or a drink this is definitely an option for you. If this isn’t the case however there are plenty of other places you can take your friends.

Commitments to the almighty Unilocal, coupled with the very fact it’s summertime(tough luck, southern hemisphere) mean I haven’t had a proper Pilgrim night in a while. This shabby, semi-subterranean tavern is better suited to the wintry greyness of the colder months, when you can descend the steps into a cloying fog of inane chatter and jukebox classics. Formerly the dubious home of Liverpool’s Worst Toilets, the Pilgrim finally cleaned up its act by ripping out the depressingly small piss-holes and replacing them with shinier rooms that, while not perfect, are monumentally better than the former bogs. I also love the way they have disabled toilets that are only accessible via the steepest pub steps in the United Kingdom. Pilgrims to the Pilgrim are a varied bunch, pretty much a cross-section of the human spectrum, albeit with a heavy emphasis on the slightly scruffy. Here they flock, to be served ludicrously cheap spirits by the crowd of staff. The Pilgrim’s bar is about the length of a jeep, yet normally has more barmen and maids than you’ve got limbs, meaning you never have to wait long. The Pilgrim’s downside is its staying factor. You can unwittingly while away great stretches of time in conversation as deep as the Atlantic but as meaningful as Jabberwocky. That hardly matters though because you’ll be hammered off triple measures that still got you change from a fiver.

You know the quality of a pub when your dad’s old haunts are still popular now, good 30-odd years after he left university. The Pilgrim is one of these places. There are several reasons for this but the main one is its prices, with it being the only place where you could buy a round of doubles or even triples for 10 – 15 quid. Its décor is dated and probably hasn’t changed much in those 30-odd years but it all serves to add to the relaxed drinking atmosphere which makes it a place popular with students and regulars alike. It also has a second room upstairs which hosts various nights including quizzes and karaōke as well as weekly band nights which showcase the local talent on the Liverpool music scene that I highly recommend.

The Pilgrim is a great little pub which I discovered one day after a drunken wonder off the busy Hardman street and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The one word which really describes The Pilgrim is character, it has this trait in abundance and is constantly brimming with charming atmosphere. The drinks are cheap here and if your a student then you will never feel alone at The Pilgrim as you will be surrounded by fellow studious types all of whom are soaking up the unique atmosphere in the same way as you will be. The food is decent value but there is nothing in the cuisine which sticks out from other pubs, that is not to say you should avoid eating there but if your after a classy meal then this is not your best bet. My own personal favourite thing about The Pilgrim is the courtyard, it seems to build an atmosphere unique to the Pilgrim only and this outdoor setting makes it a great summer pub. Indeed it is the summer months when this pub comes into its’ own, if you are after a quiet cosy drink I would say head somewhere else but if you fancy a drink in the sun with your fellow weekend revellers then The Pilgrim will not let you down.

Right next door to LIPA down the little cobbled road that is Pilgrim Street is the lovely little Pilgrim pub, set back off Hardman Street and just beyond the quaintest, cutest little courtyard. As you can imagine for a pub that not only neighbours the city’s drama institution but also the main universities, the amount of students it attracts makes for very cheap drinks. And they’re good! They always have a real ale on and there’s plenty of others on draught. The food is ridiculously good value too, and very tasty at that. The variety is really decent and there are a ton of veggie options so there’s something to suit everyone. It’s not just for students either — locals from all walks of life enjoy the fact that they can get a good drink and a meal for less than a tenner and the staff are so friendly it’s worth forsaking other pubs for the chat and banter they’ll provide you with. You’ll never feel lonely in the Pilgrim! I love the rustic feel of the place, the fact that it’s a little tatty adds to its charm and it’s got a fabulous atmosphere. I’d highly recommend the Pilgrim for a cosy little drink or indeed a summer chill out in the courtyard. Excellent.

Did I just hear the words, triples on me? Well, we must have stumbled into The Pilgrim because I don’t know any sane person who would suggest such a thing unless it were under the guise of dirt cheap lighter fluid drinks to get the party going! A pub with a great atmosphere, the wooden benches(watch out for splinters!) and the old broken juke boxes which line the walls add to the grimy charm of the place. It’s a must to start a good ol’ knees up or bar crawl and it’s easy to get settled in there, the only downside to me is the state of the girls toilets which are actually like a swamp. They usually have open mic nights and sometimes karaōke if you fancy sharing your rendition of ‘Hey Jude’ with a room of merry drunkards. The outside area is well kitted out and a good place to sit if it gets too crowded in there of an evening.

Most pubs in Liverpool are cheap as chips compared to elsewhere in the country. The Pilgrim is so cheap however, that students could probably afford to drink here noon til night and still have change to spare. Aside from offering cheap bottles, pints, spirits and tonics, they also sell incredibly cheap breakfasts and all day meals like burgers, pizzas and pies. Naturally, the low prices and close proximity to John Moore’s University means that The Pilgrim’s main clientele tends to be 90% students and 10% locals. There’s a small courtyard outside for smokers whilst the main space is occupied by a dusty old bar and small selection of worn wooden booths and chipped tables. Many moons ago, the table-top jukeboxes used to play a variety of classic rock, pop and indie. Now they appear to be there solely for decoration purposes — with the staff playing a selection of hard rock and heavy metal through the ancient stereo. To sum it up, The Pilgrim is definitely more shabby than chic. If you’re wanting to get drunk on a budget however, this is a good starting point.

It’s got character you have to give it that, but luckily the character is no longer a giant puddle ankle deep in the gents since a new lavatory was installed. Forget a doubles bar, The Pilgrim is a triples bar and with a small selection of ales too, you can see why this place has been a student favourite for decades. As you descend the old stone steps into the main drinking area, you get a sense of tradition amongst the dark wood interior and murals along the walls. With a covered patio area at the front to boot, The Pilgrim provides a handy arena for us smokers too.

The Pilgrim is a popular student haunt and its easy to see why. The drinks are cheap as chips and the food is too. The downstairs interior is mainly booths with chipped formica tables and mini jukeboxes that don’t work any more. There used to be a large jukebox near the stairs leading up to the function room, but I think it’s been scrapped. I don’t remember seeing it last time I was there, at least. The upstairs function room isn’t quite so shabby, and I remember a few years ago when they held a karaōke competition up there and it was a huge success. Until I didn’t win, of course. The bar offers double and triple spirits for a ridiculously low price, and also has a decent selection of bottles and draught beer. The food is typical student stuff, with chip butties and full Englishes all on the board next to the bar. A basic full English starts at £1.95, just for an idea of how cheap it actually is. The pub mainly has jukebox music but occasionally you’ll find a live act on. The function room was also used to give pole dancing classes a while back, but I doubt that goes on anymore.(More’s the pity). I have to say that despite its shabbiness and obvious appeal to squanderers and students, The Pilgrim holds a place close to my heart and if I lived nearer to the city centre I would aim to make it my local.

The Pilgrim is a good wee bar tucked away on Pilgrim Street off Hardman Street. To get into it you have to go a few steps and past a small courtyard outside. It’s close to Liverpool University and LIPA so it atracts a lot of students. The prices are really good as well(which also attracts the students). The normally have at least one real ale on tap, as well as all the standards(lager, cider etc). The food is supposed to be good and also cheap, but I’ve never eaten in here. There are two floors, although I only noticed that there was another floor on my third visit I think. I had previously thought that the staircase was purely a decoration until I lost my friends one night. It’s not the prettiest place, but I think that this adds to its charm.

Located on a cobbled backstreet next to LIPA, the pilgrimis in the heart of liverpools student community. it offers a laidback atmosphere with rather cheap prices. there are often offers on alcopops and bottled beers for less than a pound. The pilgrim offers a wide variety of food, which is surprising for a small pub. Especially as they offer a larger than usual variety of vegetarian food, and most meaty dishes have a veggie equivalent. The staff are really friendly, and if you go during the day when its quiet, its not uncommon for the staff to sit and have a chat with you. of an evening, the place really gets going with not only students, but the average 18 – 30 pub goer looking for a cheap and cheerful night out. As far as i am aware, The Pilgrim isnt part of a chain, which just adds to its charm and appeal. The pilgrim is a great place to either start your night out, or settle in till closing.

I know some people have said this place is grotty, but I don;t think it could be anything else with the clientèle that it attracts — it has a lot of art/music students and so wants to attract them, not surprisingly because it is sat right in the heart of the universities. That said, if you don’t want to go somewhere as edgy and cool in a very boho way, then this won’t be for you, but if you want a cheap, trouble free drink then this is the place.

The pilgrim is like the ultimate student pub! The alcohol is cheap, the décor is dark and slightly dingy and the place is always full to the brim with students. The drinks deals are the stuff of legends. I believe they used to do triple vodka and red bulls but I think that is illegal now. The pub takes its name from the street of the same name. It’s got a small outside ‘terrace’ and the pub itself is down some steps. It’s a very fun and friendly atmosphere and it’s certainlt now what you would call pretentious. I wouldn’t really recommend the food though.

This is a friendly little pub, a favourite for Students, Musicians and locals alike due to its central location. They have a selection of ales as well as a fully stocked bottle bar. Food is your usual cheap pub grub but always served with a smile from breakfast all the way through to 1545. The long table and booth style seating arrangements make this pub very socialable and a great place to start your night off. Highly recommend

The Pilgrim is a real hit with the locals and students, the attraction is the cheap beer, good atmosphere and a variety of music. The real positve of this place is the cheap food made in the cantine like kitchen towards the back of the pub. The cooks are all friendly when they serve you and its much like being cooked for by your mum! Its a great place to meet friends before a big night out, or simply go for a quite pint two. One night in particular is the ‘open mic’ on a sunday, this allows for some of liverpools more colouful characters to showcase their singing talents which makes for an enjoyable evening. Overall an excellent local, with cheap beer, and a relaxed atmosphere.
