Toxteth Park Cemetery

I seldom walk around cemetries but this one in particular is one which I may visit once in a while because I have a family member buried at this grave yard.
Cemetries aren’t the most pleasurable of places to go but this one is quite large in size so there is plenty of freedom to have a quiet stroll on a pleasant day but perhaps not the best of places to have a family picnic when you have Sefton Park, a 5 minute drive away!
Whether I would want to be buried here remains a question — probably yes. All Liverpool cemetries are similar in nature so there wouldn’t be much difference with only the ‘location’ being a key factor. At least there aren’t any signs of vandalism or hoodies about.
Apologies for the morbid review!

There isn’t much spectacular about Toxteth Cemetery, sitting like a bored tramp along Smithdown’s most tedious stretch, it is little more than a field strewn with headstones. Before you come back at me with «But that’s what all graveyards are,» and «Seriously? You’re reviewing a graveyard?» bear in mind the labyrinthine decorum of other, grander places. European corpse-​meadows, for instance, are little worlds in their own, where you don’t feel awkward strolling around.
Toxteth Cemetery isn’t this at all. You feel intrusive even if you cut through it and despite being home to a good portion of my rotting ancestry, I still wouldn’t want to end up here. I’d rather be buried in Asda.
