Attended for a tour and tasting event at Stewart Brewing. Finding the place was a little more difficult than I anticipated without a car. Buses 37 and 47 get you pretty close in about 40 minutes from Edinburgh, and then a little walk. Walking into the shop first, it is really nicely-designed, with a huge variety of beers with colourful labels stacked on the shelves. On one side of the shop are bottles with custom labels made by customers as part of the«Craft Been Kitchen» service offered at the brewery. Basically, you can come in a group of four, make your own beer as you want to make it, and bottle it with your own labels. It sounds really cool! Anyway, it was then into the brewery for me, and the beginning of the tour. But not before trying some beer! I tried the Edinburgh Gold blonde beer, and the Coconut porter as well. Both went down a treat. The tour was short and sweet, taking us through the facility and seeing all the big tanks for the beer. It was interesting to learn about the process. After that, it was back to the tasting, with a selection of bottles of IPA brought out. There were some really good ones! To round up the evening, we purchased some bottles from the shop. My friend even got a litre«growler» to drink on the bus on the way home. Please don’t judge us… The place was great, the owner very friendly, and the beer tasty. One suggestion from me would be to include some more seating to allow more socialising over drinks.

Attended an event tonight to launch their Christmas beer. We were treated to a brewery tour as well which was very informative. They also have the«craft beer kitchen» where you and up to three friends can go out and brew your own beer! As well as the brewery they have a small shop on site and also a growler bar. The wall of beer taps is impressive and they have some of the more recent craft beer kitchen beers available for purchase too. They are in the process of building a bar which should be great once it’s finished. The only downside is that it’s quite far out of town. Although reachable by bus, there’s still a small walk once you get off the bus. They can also accommodate corporate groups.
