Excellent. 6 people with a variety of food. Well done. Service was attentive and manager was very involved.

Decent food selection. I had the Africa burger. It was tasty. Probably a bit over priced. Personally, I would recommend a better draft beer selection but that may not be the clientele they are looking for? If you are staying at the Ruben and need a decent meal, might be an option but would choose the Bag O’ Nails across the street for a more authentic feeling atmosphere.

Good place to have dinner if you are staying at Rubens… It’s a bit pricy but convenient! I tried a couple of the salads and although they were pretty generic, they were fresh and the healthy option I was looking for. Service is very attentive.

B Bar was a nice stroll from Buckingham Palace. Located at the end of the busy street, I was conveniently located after a long tour. The decorations were of an African Safari. Wasn’t that tacky actually. We had the Super Salt Beef Sandwich on rye bread, broccoli coleslaw and pickles. This was definitely their most famous dish. The beef was moist but the sandwich was plain — no toppings. EXCELLENT pickles; kind of small but they gave us 4. The broccoli slaw was weird. We also bought the African Burger, which consists of wild boar and venison, fried quails egg, cinnamon marog and Chakalaka relish. Well-cooked. Side of sweet potato fries made the meal — sold separately. Overall, the place is good because it’s close, delicious, and good for people-watching.

I’ll be honest — when my date suggested a South African restaurant, I was not particularly delighted. I say this as the child of two real life South Africans — I’ve spent many months in the country and its cuisine is not its strong point. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of fantastic restaurants(I’ll tell Unilocal Cape Town about them next time I’m over), and a braai is certain to hit the spot, but stuff like bobotie and bunny chow isn’t doing it for me*. As expected, I didn’t love the menu. Still, about half of it didn’t really seem particularly SA, just generic restaurant stuff like steaks or burgers or fish and chips. And these were rather pricey — something like £19 for the fish and chips! This is in line with the image bbar seems to be trying to portray, of being sophisticated and elegant(so therefore pricey). The toilets give away that this is just an act. Anyway, I ended up with a pork belly burger — which in all fairness was gorgeous, if rather fatty. Quick shout out for the cocktails. I had two different ones and my date had two of the same — his was a standard mojito, while one of mine was a berry mojito and the other was a vodka/honey/lime thing. I can’t tell you the exact names because the menu on their website has obviously changed. But I doubt it matters what you have as all three were super delicious, as well as being pretty generous glasses. Sometimes a long cocktail menu is a bad sign, but I’d be happy to come here just for cocktails and try out all the sections(even if the South African section does sound a bit bizarre — e.g. the elephant’s reverie, with Amarula Liqueur, Frangelico, Bols Banana Liqueur, Fresh Cream, Chocolate and Kirch cherries). *BIltong is the exception. All hail biltong. It’s just hard to have as a whole meal.

I had high hopes for this spot. The décor was fun but too oversized for the space. We had to rotate the table to let our party squeeze in. The menu was unimaginative, but the food was tasty. It was super close to Wicked, which was the remainder of our evening. Our daughters liked their burgers.

A happy accident Forest Gumping our way into bbar. The staff was super welcoming. The food was superb. Great wine list. Ask them about the back story on the wild animal photo theme and enjoy your stay.

The comfy armchair style chairs were a nice addition to the already lovely restaurant and were especially great after a long day on our feet shopping! The place has a kind of African theme going on(but not the menu which is varied if not very large) and very relaxing. We had a two course pre-theatre menu and everything was delicious. The restaurant also has an extensive cocktail and wine menu. This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Great place to sit and watch people go by at rush hour. Food was good, good wine list. The prices were very reasonable for London. I had the chicken schnitzel and it was good.

Cool place with an interesting selection and solid food. The salt beef sandwich is itself exactly, but if that’s what you’re in the mood for you won’t be disappointed. The ice cream and cheese deserts were delicious.

Nice, not quite sure what the theme is, many South African touches but rather sprinkled in with regular pub food, and no South African wine. Nonetheless great food, the bobotie spring rolls, a twist on South African casserole was further twisted with Vietnamese accompaniments, but still a delicious starter. Attentive and attractive staff. The burger was amazing and sized for my American appetite. Dining at the bar is a great option for a single diner on a busy night.

Very friendly service but a somewhat mixed experience with the food and drinks. Started with the chopped salad and a Manhattan cocktail. Salad quality was fine although it was served in a ice cream glass which looked pretty but yielded about 1⁄3 the amount of salad I expected. Manhattan was one of their menu-listed cocktails, it was very watery and too heavy on the bitters. So far I’m not that impressed. My main was the African burger which was excellent in presentation, flavors, and meat temperature. I was impressed, the meats(boar and venison) are really easy to overlook, but they got it perfect. I’ll come back, but I’ll stick with the burger and a pint next time.

We were exhausted from walking around this beautiful city and on the way to Victoria Station we noticed«BBar.» I am so glad we walked in. First, it is located on a great corner location where you can people watch and there appeared to be a lot of locals coming in for dinner as the rear was packed. We had the drinks at the bar and if you are in the neighborhood I suggest you do the same because if Alex is working the bar you are in for a real treat. Let’s face it, the personnel have a lot to do with how an establishment is viewed and Alex«makes this place.» He is just a cool, attentive, personable guy and our intended thirty minute stay turned into ninety minutes. We enjoyed every minute. This was basically the last thing that we did in London. When we return, it will be the first.

A small restaurant next to the Rubens hotel where I am staying. There was a private function upstairs so I ate downstairs in a small cozy room. The food was great and the service was excellent. Waiter very attentive and pleasant. I recommend!

We were very pleased with B Bar. The food was all very good, and the prices were reasonable for London — I was surprised at this considering its location in a tourist zone so close to Buckingham Palace.

Came here with a group of 14 friends on Wednesday. It is actually part of the Rubens Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road. There is a large bar area at the front, with a more formal raised area at the rear. Started with a draught pint of Budvar at the bar, before being seated at the table. As there were 14 of us, we had to give our choice of main and desert two days before. We started with a large mixed sharing platter consiting of Beef Biltong, Chiken Livers with piri piri sauce, Bobotie Spring Rolls, Chicken and Dill Skewers and bread. Great selection and plenty for us. For the main I went for the African Burger, which consisted of Wild boar and venison, fried quails egg, cinnamon marog and Chakalaka relish, and a side of fries. If I had known it came on a wooden board, I would have probably asked for a plate, but hey that’s just a minor detail. For desert, I went for a Khalua based cream softy drink. It was called a Don Pedro which I now understand is a South African originating cocktail. It was really good, and just right after the two previous heavy courses. For a group of 14, we had a great time. I highly recommend, and would definately go back! On Wednesdays it’s s 2 for 1 offer of bottles of Prosecco.

Outstanding food, can’t go wrong with any choice. This place is a real foodie gem. Just had the brownie sundae dessert, one of the top 5 desserts I’ve ever had.

B Bar was the best restaurant we had tried in London so far. We ordered their steak, steamed mussels, grilled fish fillet and red wines; we weren’t going to eat dinner here at first, but after trying their great red wine and perfectly cooked mussels(decent sizes), we could not resist to order more. The fish fillet was very fresh and tasty, with a touch of lemon juice to bring out the flavor; the steak was super juicy and flavorful, with red, it was heavenly! The manager was kind enough to give us an order of spinach on the house since we didn’t order any veggies, it was so creamy and delicious! Of course, finishing up with their ice cream desserts! Customer service was fantastic! They were all very friendly and attentive, just one eye contact, someone came right to us to make sure we needed. Highly recommended!

Came here for breakfast because it was next door to our hotel. The décor is super cute(it’s a south african restaurant). I had a breakfast sandwich(egg, spinich, cheese, tomato) and my friend had the traditional English breakfast. Normally the«traditional English breakfast comes with baked beans, but since this is a south african restaurant, they put a new spin on the beans and they were DELICIOUS! Kind of in a chunky tomato sauce? Service was great(but we were the only people there that early in the morning). Heard they have a nice crowd at night.
