It’s Aladdin’s Cave of DIY Wonders! Seriously low ceilings with things hanging from them and tight narrow isles filled to the brim with everything you need to fix things in your house or garden. Came in randomly and was in need of some bits n bobs to make a giant bubble wand. Three minutes, two eyelet screws and a washer later and my task is complete. And despite the messy looking shelves, they are fairly organized.

This is an old school hardware shop. It is dark and musty. You walk up the aisles and see no frills tools and bits and pieces of all kinds. For instance, the shop sells a bottle opener, a strainer and some cheap kitchen tools. I don’t know what this has to do with Hardware. You can never acuse this store of trying too hard.

I wandered into B & S last week, looking to get some keys cut. For some reason, I find old-school hardware stores fascinating. Don’t ask me why, I just often feel like they’re stuck in a time-warp, but somehow the staff know exactly where that 2 inch drill bit you wanted is. Not that I needed a 2 inch drill bit, or even if such an item exists. But you catch my drift. The staff were helpful and the guy behind the counter was über-chatty, which I often love about hardware stores. The staff are usually up for some witty banter. And yes, they do cut keys.
