Splendid little hidden gem. I’m a bit nervous of letting people in on this secret but they’re great and deserve the praise. Fantastic and very authentic place with good prices. Simple plastic tablecloth décor, just like many places in Brazil. Love this place and I keep going back.

PRO: Authentic Brazilian food, lively atmosphere, super friendly staff! CON: The musicians were playing way too loud for the space in the back BOTTOMLINE: If you want good Brazilian food in a casual and welcoming atmosphere, go here! Came here with my family on my most recent trip in London(Oct 2015), and am shocked that I haven’t found this place before! I lived in South America for a year, and was in Rio and Sao Paolo for a spell during Carnival in 2014, and was a huge fan of the pao de queijo(little balls of cheese bread; heaven!) and caipirnhas(lime and brown sugar cocktail with rum; but who wouldn’t be a fan?) so those were my first orders. We also ordered the typical Brazilian steak, and also tried a grilled fish. Seeing farofa(toasted cassava flour mixture that you can put on meats) on the table made me smile, and I knew I’d be in for a good meal. Everything was amazingly delicious; meat was perfectly done, and fish was also grilled to perfection. It was well seasoned, but simple in flavor, so you get the taste of the meats themselves. Rice and beans were sides, and I really appreciated that they flavored their rice with what seemed like garlic, oil and salt; could’ve eaten a whole bowl of that by itself. And the pao de queijo did not disappoint! We got ours fresh from the oven and it was incredible! Finished off with a few espressos; absolutely great meal! The staff was fantastic as well. We made reservations for 7:30pm but showed up at 6:30pm as very hungry customers, and they accommodated us no problem. But this is definitely a dress-down affair; simple and mismatched table cloths and thin fold-out tables are the setting. There was a Brazilian duo playing some really great music and my only complaint was that they were using amps that were too loud for the small space. Oh, and you can definitely taste the rum in the caipirnhas, so you are getting your money’s worth, but I think because you cannot get South American limes, the drink turned out to be too sweet for my taste. Overall, a wonderful experience; was so glad to have found such an amazing little piece of Brazil in West Hampstead.

Brilliant reasonable prices and something delightfully simple but different. Rice and beans one of my new faves will have to find out how to cook them.

I did come back, and just found the food too salty to be enjoyable. The food was a touch slow to come out given that it wasn’t very busy, but it was very affordable for large portions. My search for moqueca in London continues…

Great authentic Brazilian hidden away behind the main road. Great flavours and family size portions, nice cocktails and beers, even buy some Brazilian groceries. Perhaps it should remain a secret

I’ve been here for dinner several times and I can guarantee for the place’s delicious dishes and amazing staff. They serve Brazilian food which is a nice change from all the pizzas and pastas that have popped around the city.

Recently someone recommended this little place to me, otherwise I would probably never have found it. Barraco is a Brazilian restaurant and deli tucked away in a little side street just off Kilburn High Road. It seems to be popular with Brazilians — perhaps because this place is not only a restaurant, café and bar, but also sells Brazilian products. Barraco is a nice place offering Brazilian dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. The food is good and not very expensive and you could try some Brazilian specialties. I really like this quirky, down-to-earth place, especially the little dog that sat by the door to great every guest. Nice touch.

We went to Barraco2(NW105NN) on 25/02/2011, and it was such a pleasant suprise. The food was wonderful; freshly cooked and seasoned to perfection. Starters: Chicken hearts & Brazillian sausage Mains: Steak, rice and beans & Kebabs, rice and beans Drinks: Draugh beer & guava juice The owners were extremely friendly, and the portion sizes were outstandingly good value for money. We thought we would share 2 starters, but really only one was necessary! I was in future suggest either the hearts or sausage acompanies by some bread or something to dip in the juices. Have already told numerous people about this place, and really cannot wait to go back… after being told about Barraco by a Brazillian guy, he didn’t disappoint us with his recommendation.
