Food was average to below average. Starters of goats cheese and squid were fine but nothing to order again or mention. Mains of bavette, pork and chicken. Bavette was ordered bleu and came medium rare. The waitress tried to insist it was bleu as if I did not know what I ordered. It was taken back to the kitchen and returned rare. Still not bleu but acceptable. The dessert of sticky toffee pudding was served barely warm. Service through the whole affair was indifferent to rude. Will not be back to any, tavern, bistro or restaurant. Would not recommend anyone to come.

Refreshing and authentically French, this tavern makes bold promises and delivers. The roasted pork and possibly the best bavette steak in town are must haves.

Lovely little tavern in Farringdon with a very proper French menu. We went for lunch, and tried the charcuterie(not for me, but the others liked it), roast pork sandwich, ribeye steak, and salmon, which was the fish of the day. Each of our meals was well cooked and flavorful, and it was a nice quiet place to have lunch. I’ll definitely be back.

Inattentive service, mediocre duoro, and a rib eye that was like a half-forgotten off-cut were crowned by cold chips. All of this for 30 quid. The worst meal I’ve had in London irrespective of price.

Delicious breakfast, porridge is yum and the brioche warm and tasty

My husband and I have gone into work a couple of times slightly earlier than we normally would so that we can have breakfast here. Both times we’ve been so far we haven’t been disappointed — I’ve had the eggs benedict and the american pancakes with maple syrup and bacon and both were delicious. The only negative is the waitresses that served us — cool and offhand are v. good descriptions. You’re also supposed to get free flowing coffee with your breakfast but, despite asking twice and being ignored, it took a third request to actually get a refil.

The Ale was offanyone got any chips, needing some vinegar? This bar is a bit posh and is near the city. These 2 facts together means it’s full of people I don’t want to be in a bar with. Can’t decide whether to give it 1 or 2 so I am going to use a new way of deciding called the attractive barmaid method and Mademoiselle ‘7 pounds please Monsieur’ definitely round the score up to 2!

Good for a quick stop off, although the food isn’t a patch on the other two restaurants nearby. Hearty and rich too, and the beer and wine is good. Suckling pig was tasty and cooked properly, although I think a little bit old

I went here last week, after being taken out by an agency and not really knowing that many places near chancery lane to eat at. Although we just walked up there we managed to get a table for four. The tavern itself is very ‘olde pub’ and a little on the cold side. This however is soon forgotten about when it comes to the food. The menu has a wide selection and the braised pork that I had melted in the mouth. The service there is spot on, and I hardly had to raise my head before a very nice French waitress was there ready to take my order. I’ve kept their business card and will definitely be taking any friends or business colleagues there in the future

I agree with mattygroves — this isn’t really a place to go if you just want a drink. The food is very good, and the service is speedy and efficient if a little bit cool and off-hand(the waiters here always seem to be staring into the middle distance — bit disconcerting). Seating is above street level so you watch people rushing down to Farringdon Station whilst you eat. I do like the food and the general ambience, and recommend it as worth a visit, especially if you’ve been browsing in Hatton Gardens.

The Bleeding Heart has apparently been around nearly forever. It is, on the face of it a pub, however, it is better known as a French bistro cum/restaurant, and, I have to say, I wouldn’t fee all that comfortable sitting there just for a drink at lunchtime. As you might expect, it’s full of city types at lunchtime. The food is very good, though arguably expensive for a pub(but, as mentioned, if you think of it as a bistro, not so much). The food is good, and the portions are reasonable. They have daily specials on a board — I do try to choose from those when I’m there. I’ve had grilled mackerel there, and it was very good. I’ve also tried the lamb burger, which was also excellent. I’ve also had breakfast here, which, I have to say, was superb. I had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast, and it was beautifully cooked with generous portions. They also have excellent coffee. The prices are on the high side, but not crippling so — around £14ish for a main course. They have, as you might expect, a good selection of wines, and a decent selection of Adnams real ales. I would not like to go to the Bleeding Heart just for a drink. However, I’d happily take clients here, and have eaten here with colleagues.
