I like to think that all the age groups deserve to have their rights to well designed garments. That is fashion democracy and that applies to kids as well. You know that the High Street is about bright prints and cheap jersey, and then there are the more upscale shops for something more long lasting and classical. Just like it works for adults. And it is a different story if a some Marylebone housewife likes to supply her kinds entire wardrobe for this upscale and fancy children clothing range, or if its for someone getting just some beautiful pieces for a some special occasion. It is expensive. But the Bonpoint designs are detailed, well made, simple and elegant. Very French. Clothes that last from the older brother to the younger one if just does not mess around and get stains and dirt all over it as its very likely with kids.

Would you come here if you didn’t have a child? Non. Would you come here if you weren’t fabulously loaded? Non. Would you come here if you were a bit worried that your lifestyle and shopping habits had become a little bit pretentious? Non. Bonpoint is a french couture childrenswear shop. The only reason I went in was with a friend. And she didn’t find anything. The interior looks like a museum, all Louis XII furniture effects and stunning lighting. Would the kids themselves like to hang around here? Non. Look, I’m sure all the clothes are high fashion, all handmade, organic cotton and all of that. Brilliant. But as a firm believer that kids probably aren’t the people to swathe in designer labels, I think the whole idea of this shop is a bit silly. A ‘Mal-point’ maybe…
