Really professional, friendly and quick bike services and repairs. Been here a few times with my beloved bike and always leave with the problem sorted.

These guys are real professionals. They care about their customers and always will help you. When you decide to buy a bike they will help you to choose the one that fits your needs. The bikes are build there and you can be sure that they will last longer than any other.

I have recently had a Surly bike built for me and I am very pleased that I went to BC as I feel that I received excellent service from them. I am not, and nor do I look like a ‘Hardcore’ cyclist but they where friendly and made sure that the right size frame was ordered after test riding a couple of their in-store Surly’s. I never felt that anyone was patronising to me. So.I got a great bike with a high standard of build and a couple of little extra’s thrown in. I liked the enthusiastic demeanor of Barney, who dealt with my custom and although you pay RRP, I was pleased that my money was supporting a local business. As ever, it’s each to their own, but my experience with Brixton cycles has been a pleasing one.

Went there to have my brakes adjusted as they weren’t working properly, the guy ended up telling me that they needed to change the cables because the original one was not fitted on properly and the bike was not rightly equipped. The bike is 5 months old. I’ve found the sales guy excuses not convincing at all and I ended up paying £24 just for adjusting new brakes. And they also charged me for dog’s poo on the bike which was actually a spot of mud. The whole experience was a disappointment and an extortion to be honest without mentioning the non existing customer friendly approach.

Maybe I have just been unlucky but I have tried this shop twice now and left disappointed both times. There was simply no interest in me or my requests, and it seemed the guy was far more interested in the cool helmetless fixie folk there. On the second occasion when I was after some handlebars the guy(who seemed to be the boss) reluctantly went out the back to check the stock, returned and didn’t even speak to me he just started serving someone else! It wasn’t until I interrupted that he told me they didn’t have what I wanted. I really wanted this to be the great local bike shop I had heard so much about, but I won’t be giving it a third chance.

Pretty good people, pretty good prices, pretty good community. This co-op has been here for donkey’s years. They’ll help you select bits for your bike and help you help yourself get around on a bike. Everyone’s(almost) always super friendly, they loan out tools(there’s a constant stream of kids working on their bikes coming in & out to borrow tools). Every now and then, though, you get that attitude– they balked at selling me Mr. Tuffy liners, even though that’s what I wanted(and what I’ve experience with & what works for me) Kind of annoying, but nothing compared to your average cycle-shop snob. Fixie friendly… but really all about getting you on your cycle and moving round town.

I’ve known about this place for years but have only just gone in recently. They sell themselves as a ‘co-operative’, which I probably doubted and scoffed at in the past. But no, really, they’re all about sharing and caring. Being a complete bike novice when it comes to repairs and replacements, one of the workers took the time outside the shop to show me the best way for replacing my inner tube and tyre for my specific bike and even lent me the tools to do it. They’re super friendly in here, despite being constantly busy. I’m a big fan. They hold cycle surgeries each morning for drop-in repairs and advice. Feel the love, Brixton.

Really friendly staff that lack the attitude that bike shop people often have. Always offer great advice and offer a super useful drop in service on weekdays. Also it’s run as a co-op. What more could you want?! Best bike shop in the area by a mile!

A great store, with chilled out, grounded and knowledgeable staff. Regardless of your experience you will feel comfortable here asking for advice. The main asset of this place is the staff, and from my experience they were excellent.

This bike shop is great to deal with, friendly and with a laid-back vibe. On Saturday morning they will take bikes without appointment, but as you can imagine it is very popular so get there early before they open and join the queue in the street!

Quite simply, in my humble opinion, the best cycle shop in London. It is a cooperative so everyone working there has a hand in its success. This means that customer service is second to none. Booking your bike in for a full service can take patience as they are very booked up, but for £65 your bike gets the works and is like new to ride home on. Many times I have pulled in to ask them a question about a repair and they have fixed it on the spot without charging — they are too cool. They have a very edited collection of bikes and try to only sell bikes that will last rather than break quickly. They stock Surly bikes which are these gorgeous steel-framed machines that they make from the ground up. Go spend money at Brixton cycles, enjoy the grooves as you wait and then battle the buses on the way home.
