Very poor service, all of the workers are friends and hang out with each other instead of helping customers. It’s more of a social gathering for them rather than a restaurant. Had to go pick up the menu from the waitresses ourselves, never got the ‘specials’ menu, and lastly had to go up to the waitress to ask for the check after waiting 15 minutes. Menu is extremely vague with what items are in each dish, and this did not help with my spouse’s allergies. But when our waitress was around, she was helpful with helping us with that. Food and drinks, although, were very good. Looks like the cooks have their act together while on the contrary, the actual running of the restaurant does not.

We made a reservation for a party of four based on a recommendation from a nearby hotel, and our group was well pleased with our dinner. The dining room is lovely and the staff professional and attentive. We found the wine list to be quite nice, as was the beer selection. Between us we ended up with a nice representation of that night’s menu including a cottage pie, sea bass, lamb and steak and everybody felt well done by. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was just terrific. Overall, a very very solid option.

Just a short walk from our hotel, we happily stumbled upon Bumpkin our first night and had a great experience. Homey décor and low lighting add to the charm of this gem in Kensington. It has the ambiance of a small family restaurant and the service to match. The menu is just right-seasonal dishes with a hint of tradition, excellent specials and a nice drinks selection. Our first meal(we liked it so much we did go back) is a slight blur due to *a bit* of jet lag, although I do remember the fish and chips being spot on and I loved the mushy peas. One of our party had the chicken which was perfectly done, and one of the specials we had, a chicken and mushroom pie, was stellar. If you are a fan of stouts, the Whistable Bay Oyster Stout is amazing-a must try. After our second visit, my DH and son stayed for drinks at the bar, where they enjoyed more excellent service and a nice selection of ales. The next time we are in Kensington, we’ll definitely be back.

I recently had dinner here and it was fantastic. I had the fish and chips and it was delicious. The side of peas had a twist to it and it was great. They had a good dinner selection and they had some great specials as well. Loved the cozy atmosphere and ambience. Also the service was very good. Definitely recommend this place if you’re visiting London.

Came here for dinner with friends. We were a group of 5 and one our friend is allergic to gluten, which we made the staff aware of but there were very slow. Everyone’s starter was out but our friend’s(the gluten intolerant one). We had to flag someone down twice to get his meal out. The good was OK, nothing great. And that was how it went the entire evening. Granted we had fun — but that was because of the friends and laughing at the situation. I would go with other restaurant choices in the area and give this one a miss.

We were tourists in London and this place is just down the street from our hotel. It is very clean and the folks are helpful and welcoming. Our fish & chips and burger were wonderful. Would certainly go back next time we are in town!

We came here to celebrate a friend’s viva. We sat in the private room upstairs and it was very lovely! I had the soup of the day(I believe it was butternut squash soup), Salmon Wellington and sticky toffee pudding. The Salmon Wellington and the Sticky Toffee Pudding were outrageously delicious. The salmon came with a caviar cream sauce that made the dish rich and decadent. The sticky toffee pudding was probably the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had in my life. As if the pudding wasn’t rich enough, it was stopped with salted caramel ice cream! I might consider returning to Bumpkin just for the pudding. It was THAT good. The service was attentive and the ambiance was lovely. I would recommend for a relaxing dinner out!

Decent; thats it. Not good. Not bad. Its too pricey for the punch it packs in dinner execution. Flavour hidden away.

I recently came here for drinks one night and then dined a few nights later. CARLOS at the bar is SO sweet and he made me the best personalized drinks! and when we came to dine a couple days later he remembered me, greeted me with a smile and remembered my special drink and hand delivered it to me! The staff made us feel right at home. So overly impressed with the service. Now for the food — this was not only the best meal we ate in England but in a long time also! it was amazing!!! My husband ordered the chicken and it was probably the best chicken we have ever eaten. I had the meat pie and that was amazing. The macaroni and cheese was delcious and the mushrooms on top were the best mushrooms i have ever had. I will seriously fly to London just so I can eat here! And Salva was a great, sweet and attentive waiter. We will recommend this to everyone and we can’t wait to be back!!!

This place is super cute, but the food wasn’t anything special. My boyfriend had the lamb and I had the Sunday roast — both we fine. Service was good. The mac and cheese is pretty tasty. The atmosphere is quite lovely.

I went to their Christmas Showcase, as a guest of a friend. I have used their original branch based at Notting Hill, so it felt like I was walking into the same restaurant, as the layout was exactly the same! The private room above was decked out all Christmassy and was lovely. The drinks and canapes were flowing, there were prosecco and different cocktails and mulled wine and tasty canapes and desserts to die for. A lot of staff on hand, and the service was efficient and friendly. The place was packed, so a very lively atmosphere. We left after a couple of hours having had our fill. Would definitely recommend their very reasonable Christmas menu at £37.50 for 3 courses.

We came here per the recommendation of our hotel concierge. There were many options on the menu, all of which looked delicious. Our server suggested the Hake and Pork Belly with a side of mash. We also ordered the Baked Cheesecake. — The Hake was quite good. — The Pork Belly was tasty too however the skin seemed a little too burnt/crispy as it was difficult to cut and bite. — The mash and baked cheesecake were both okay. I think I just wasn’t used to the richness of the dairy. Apparently there’s a set menu: 2 courses for 15 or 3 courses for 20(Monday-Thursday from 12PM-7PM). I will definitely visit a Bumpkin establishment the next time I am in London and have already recommended others to try it out.

We spent two weeks in London and had dinner here three times. Completely enjoyed all three visits. The Sunday roast dinners are great as are the traditional dishes. The wine list is also a plus. Great service! You can’t go wrong here.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The moment we walked in we were ignored by the hostess, a horrible woman with short hair and a contemptible and undeserving sense of pompousness. She told us without looking up for a second in a very cold manner that the garden was fully booked and we needed a reservation, however there was absolutely no one inside, which should have been my first clue that this was not the best place to eat. The garden was occupied by only two small groups of diners and none of the tables had reserved signs, this should have been the second indication to leave but we stayed and put in our order. The only decent part about our experience was the quality of the food and the accommodating waitresses but we could not fully enjoy it because the plates the food was brought out on were dirty all throughout. They were not washed properly and had bits of food and streak marks. The cherry on top was when an older couple walked in and the same woman who seated us walked up to them in a very cheery and polite attitude and seated them out in the garden without a reservation. We inquired about this situation with one of the managers and were given a bullshit explanation about the timing and not wanting to inconvenience us with moving us if other reserved diners showed up. I will be turning people away from eating here any chance I get. Absolutely horrible.

Maybe we are just too Americanized but I don’t see what the fuss is about with fish n chips… It was not that great… And the dessert wasn’t that good here either. The service was way too slow!!! Took two hours to get our meal completed and then Had to wait forever for dessert… Maybe we are just impatient in America but we don’t like to wait hours to eat.

Right around the corner from our hotel, and I am not complaining. We liked this place so much we ate here two days in a row. lol. The food is farm to table and about 20% of the menu changes nightly. My favorite items consumed included the«meat board» that came with house made cured meats, bread, and pickles. For dinner my favorite meals was the grilled Hake and veggies. yummmmmmm. Keep on doin your thang Bumpkin, you are certainly #winning

Came here for an afternoon drink and ordered a fresh lemonade. Waited so long and when it finally came it was Sprite. I requested for it to be fresh, and she came back when a drink that was a sour mixture of Sprite and lemon juice. Quite awful.

When my friends and I wanted to find a brunch spot before visiting the V&A, we found it surprisingly hard to think of a good place around South Kensington. Bumpkin came up a number of times during our online research, and it seemed to have good reviews so we went ahead and booked a table. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize that brunch is only served until noon on Sunday, so when we arrived, we only had a lunch and Sunday roast menu to choose from. Luckily, most of us were in the mood for roast, so we ordered the chicken and two orders of sirloin. One friend also ordered the sea bass. I tried both of the roasts and thought the chicken was much better than the sirloin, which we ordered medium rare, but came out as a thin, tough piece of meat. The roast was also served with roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, and roast vegetables that seemed to be doused in a creamy cheese sauce. I’ve had better roast vegetables, but we all agreed that the potatoes and Yorkshire puddings hit the spot. By the time we left the restaurant around 2PM, the whole place was packed and it is definitely a popular neighborhood spot. I enjoyed the dining experience, but it was not the best roast that I’ve ever had. I think it is a good option if you are in the area, but I look forward to exploring other places in South Kensington. If anyone has better recommendations, please send them my way!

Came here for a birthday lunch, and it exceeded our expectations. It’s a thoroughly British affair, so order appropriately. The appetizers are interesting — I recommend the crab and the smoked salmon. The highlight was definitely the main though. I had the salmon wellington which was superb, and the steak pie was also a winner. Look on their website for half price promotion. The ambience is somewhat like a bar, but still nice and cosy.
