It was morning. We wanted breakfast. The location: King’s Cross. Where to go? Unilocal said head towards Guzel. We walked by this place the first time actually since it doesn’t day Guzel on the sign outside(it’s either an outdated sign or a new name, either way, it’s Guzel.) The restaurant was semi-empty and we were told to sit anywhere. Basic breakfast served all day, but it’s homecooked, very cheap and delicious. They do it both English style with your meats and starches and Americano style with your pancake sweetness. Love the options. My only real issue with this place was the service, which was bad. Really bad. Like, every time we needed anything, we had to wait for the waitress to reappear from the back(which wasn’t often) and then almost grab her when she walked on by. And there were only two tables full of people in the entire spot — including us! Still, cheap delicious breakfast served all day right near a giant tube stations. It’s a good one to know.

This place was conveniently located next to our hostel. We had English breakfast here a couple of times and lunch once. They provide tasty and good quality food with a very reasonable price. I really miss their English breakfast.

We only had time for one breakfast during our short stay in London, so my buddies and I were set on trying a full and authentic English Breakfast. Thanks to Unilocal,I found this place and we swung by before shopping at Camden Market. In our group of five, everyone but me got the full English breakfast with juice and coffee for 7 pounds. I had my heart set on a full English breakfast, but somehow blurted out«One Americana, please!» when the waitress took our order. I don’t know. I couldn’t resist pancakes with golden syrup. My «Americana» plate had pancakes, eggs and ham and it was itty bitty. The pancakes were about as big as the palm of my hand, and the ham was sliced deli meat. I was hoping for actual, thick, Christmas-style ham. REGRET. The four other gals had the biggest plate of English morning deliciousness. In addition to their freshly squeezed juice, they had eggs, hash browns, sausage, tomato, beans, mushrooms. The plate was overwhelming, even to us gluttonous Americans! If you’re vacationing in London and looking for a reasonably priced and seemingly legitimate place for English breakfast, I would definitely recommend Guzel.

Gotta say my experience here was great. Fab breakfast, beautiful eggs, tasty bacon and sausages, lovely cup of tea. Service is prompt, polite and pleasant. Menu is varied. Enjoyed so much I went a long with a few colleagues from work when in London early for a conference, they were all impressed too. Yum yum.

Guzel I often go and do research at the British Library, and on one recent chilly-but-sunny January morning I chose to walk rather than Tube from Fenchurch Street up to Saint Pancras, and man, am I glad I did. I’d skipped breakfast and figured I’d pick up a Pret or Marks & Spencer sandwich and get going, but I was ruminating as I walked and thought I could have a sit down breakfast– as I wouldn’t be able to take my sandwich into the reading rooms anyway. Guzel puts out a £5.95 Full English. Now, you can’t really go completely wrong with a Full cooked breakfast, but you can go awfully right. Mushrooms were done & seasoned right, not overcooked. Beans had taste. Tomatoes not mushy. 2 eggs, runny yellows, no «snot» as Seventeen says of the uncooked white. The sausages were done under the grill, and had been sliced open in several spots– I’m not normally a fan of this as the fat runs out and leaves the flavour out, but these sausages were so flavourful, crisp, and wonderful that I really want to watch the next time and see a) where the sausages came from and b) how exactly he does them. The staff were super as well. This is basic food, done well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see chefs in here. Now I’m looking forward to going back for hangover breakfast of liver, egg, bacon, & chips… 293 Gray’s Inn Rd, WC1, London
