We were walking around looking for food after going to the Tower Bridge and most places were closed or not to our liking. Hungry and exhausted, we decided to have a quick bite and gave this café a try. Looking at the menu we were a bit skeptical and the folks working there don’t speak much English. We saw a guy sitting next to us and he had a plate of mixed meats with fries so we decided to order three plates of the same. When the food came, it was actually very flavorful and delicious. The combination mixed plate came with sliced chicken breast, gyro meat, and something else(maybe lamb or beef) with fries. There were so much meat that we couldn’t even finish our own food and had to box it up. It’s a no-frill, quick bite café and we will come back if we are around the area next time.

Went in with a mate for a quick catch up. Service was pretty good and fast. Staff were happy to help and very welcoming. Nice place to go if you just want to grab a quick coffee and chat :) :)

CLEAN, TIDYAND A BITGRUMPY The café is clean and tidy. Sadly, I would describe the service I received as Surly or functional, at best. Given I was the only customer, the wait for my scrambled egg on toast was too long. When it arrived it was very disappointing — about half the amount of scrambled egg you would normally expect and very dry. The coffee was also small but it was quite good so the visit wasn’t totally bad. The staff made no attempt to be pleasant — maybe they dont do mornings!

Delicious fiver breakfast, super friendly service and large portions. But please, please, please don’t buy one of their pre-prepared sandwiches that they now serve during late-night hours. Bread is hard as a rock after sitting out and then not heated on griddle, but microwaved. Big mess! Ended up throwing half of sandwich out. They should make all sandwiches fresh to order or, at least, heat them on the griddle instead of the microwave.

I went to this spot at like 2am and it was right-on-time. I got a kebab and it was more than enough for my craving. I would def recommend this place.

I visited London in 2005 and I STILL think about this place to this day. The customer service is through the roof, the bread is to die for, and it’s a cheap and quick lunch. Definitely worth the visit! I’ll be back!

I had lunch at Café Rossi this week. The food was great, and good value, but the service was incredibly brusque and around me I saw people being hurried out of their tables as soon as they’d finished eating. I felt obliged to leave immediately after finishing my food as it was quite uncomfortable being there on my own. I’m afraid I wouldn’t go back.

Having picked up the odd lunchtime sandwich and after work pasta dish from Café Rossi I would certainly recommend it on price and portion size, but as far as taste and quality goes I think there are better places in the area. A pile of spaghetti only set me back about a fiver, tasted fine but was nothing special, while an avocado salad ciabatta hit the spot another day but, again, was nothing to write home about. Being located right in the hubbub of London Bridge the place is understandably rammed every lunchtime, so prepare your air of zenlike calm before you enter! Café Rossi caters for the office lunch trade very well by offering generous portions and good prices and you certainly won’t leave hungry, but for a little more attention to detail take a walk down the road towards Borough tube and visit Nelson’s( ).

This little busy capital boasts one of the best Fry-ips in London. Always busy with cheap well cooked food. A breakfast is only £4.00 and is huge. Enjoyed on many a morning when something is needed to soak up the alcohol.

Elephant and Castle is just wrong. It is not a borough it is a giant trash bin. Even though there are businesses around it still feels like a desolate dump. When I’m trapped here during the day I don’t stay for lunch; I go to London Bridge for my midday repast. I found this cute little sandwich spot called Café Rossi. For £3 you get a sandwich, a bag of crisps and a can of soda. It’s cheap and it’s filling. It’s not a super gourmet luxury feast, but it’s perfect for a quick bite to eat in the middle of the day and it’s not too far from Elephant and Castle, so if you need a quick escape flee to this place.

Café Rossi is a lively café opposite HSBC bank on Borough High Street. The popular takeaway counter at the front often forms a line into the high street, serving good toasted sandwiches, ciabattas, cold drinks etc. To the rear there is a small seating area with capacity for 26 people. Here they offer a larger selection of food, including excellent salads(the grilled chicken salad is a personal favourite), baked potatoes, a selection pasta dishes(spaghetti & meatballs also recommended), chilli con-carni, full English breakfast, omelettes, anything from the takeaway menu, and so on. In fact the menu is huge for such a small place, while still maintaining a home made taste. The quality of the food is good, arrives quickly, and value for money is excellent. In fact most of the main courses are under five pounds. What lets Rossi down unfortunately is the erratic service. During lunch time it gets very busy, and the staff will often hurry people out of the restaurant as soon as they’ve finished so they can fill the tables again. The orders will generally not arrive together, nor will the waiting staff remember who ordered what, so expect to have to claim your dish as it comes out of the kitchen. Despite all this, the staff are very friendly, so if you are looking for a quick and cheap lunch and you’re prepared to put up with the chaotic service then Rossi’s is well worth a visit.
