Went to a Unilocal Event, i didn’t like it. Cargo was empty and its was a bit disappointing.

We were here for Gospeloke and safe to say we will not be spending our money here again.
If having slow and surly bar staff serve you overpriced drinks is what you are after (£6 for a 400ml can of lager), then this is your place!

Horrible place
Racist and didn’t want want to let Chinese group in just because we were Chinese.
We finally got to go in (after complaining for about an hour.) it just felt like they were eyeing our group the whole time even thought we paid for table services. They need to get with the times and stop all this discrimination and let people have a good time. If you want to have a good time this place needs to change their views and stop all racism then i would recommend it.

£20 admission, £11 for a weak rum and coke, £20 minimum for cards, can’t enter certain rooms unless you check your light coat/​jacket that you want to keep on (£2)…Not worth it.

Such an overpriced place (£20 entry which is like Mayfair). Rude and unprofessional bouncers. Long queue for the cloakroom. Outside area is nice, but I once got my hair pulled by a totally drunk girl there (she mistook me for someone else). Minimum card spend is £20 and the drinks are average. Not going to Cargo again anytime soon.

Really nice venue, big outdoor area as well. Very strange ‘no handbags’ allowed on the dance floor rule though. Not really sure any of us understood this. Great drink offers during the week, but very pricey on the weekend.

20£ for a crowded club with mediocre music, and over-​crowded cloakroom and expensive (weak) drinks? There are easily better places in London to spend your Friday night.

Hot and sweaty, fun crowd, great DJ. Awesome spot in shoredtich, only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because my shoes got destroyed hahaha

My boyfriend and I paid £25 for their Halloween event this past weekend and showed up to the club with our ids and tickets printed. They let me in with a group of girls but kept him back saying someone had scanned his ticket and his name wasn’t on the list and tried to just shoo him away. AFTER HE PAID 25 QUID. When he got rightfully upset and asked to speak to a manager he was pushed against a wall by two body guards. I tried to go out and explain the situation but instead of dealing with our issue they kicked me out too saying I was suddenly too drunk. Not only was I fine, they were happy to let me in ‘too drunk’ when I was single, but once I had a boyfriend and wasn’t an available single female it was easier to kick me out. I still can’t believe this actually happened. I paid £25 for absolutely nothing and was treated with so much disrespect by the staff there. I had heard awful reviews before but decided to give it a go which I regret a ton now. And for £25 the inside was nothing special. Easily the worst Halloween of my life. Thanks cargo.

Overprice plus the security guys are completely unprofessional. Got kicked out of the dance floor because I was wearing sunglasses, even though I was not high, perfectly sober, just sensitive to the light because of a eye surgery.
I think his behavior was inappropriate, Only thing written was: no hand bag and no coats, weirdly there were many people with bags and coats, nothing about sunglasses though…

To be honest it was a really really bad experience that I would never go there even if not only I go there for free but also they pay £20 (the entrance fee I paid for this place)! Bouncers are suuuuper rude and unprofessional. The only good thing about it is its good burgers at the backyard. Never try it!

Fun place in Shoreditch — affordable if you make it in before 10 on a Friday (quite easily done)
Found it a little strange that one of the rooms bans even small shoulder bags — I don’t know anyone who wants to check in their valuables– and it seemed a shame that this prevented some of our party from staying together.
Music here is a great balance of classics and new chart stuff and three rooms means there’s something for everyone at some point of the evening!

Awesome place. Probably my favorite club in shoreditch. The place is massive, with two large rooms just for dancing. Not to mention the lounge area and outdoor patio/​lounge. Great atmosphere and good music. Two dj stations. The drinks a little pricey, but that’s just something you have to accept clubbing in London. Definitely recommended for the partying crowd trying to meet people.

It’s dark and it gets a bit filthy. I also had my drink spiked there — so beware.
This is all very unfortunate because they do play awesome top 40 music. Have two good sized dancefloors and located perfectly in Shoreditch. If they re-​do their interior maybe the place vibe will change. It’s also quite expensive for what it is.
When I realised that something is wrong with my drink and bouncer tried to tell me that I got too drunk and need to leave — after I could (hardly!) explain that my drink was spiked — she let me lean over her and arranged a black cab home for me — which was very nice of her.

We stayed at 50 meters from Cargo, so we decided to go there as a before party. We arrived at 7:30pm on a saturday night, and the place was already filled with some people, quite young and hipsters. Good music, beer or coktails, and a space outside which is really cool. We did not try the place in «club mode» but I heard it is good too.

This is not the best club in Shoreditch — for sure — but it does have history.
You can find this place in a little «hidden» deactivated railway that has been turned into a concert/​rave venue with lots of crazy people dancing.
I must say that I thought my night out here would be a little more «alternative» but this is certainly the mainstreamest place around the area.
Personal opinion aside this it’s a cool spot. Two dance floors, a bar with a couple of places to sit and an outside area (where you will freeze on Winter).
The bouncers are not the most polite people in the world — where are the nice bouncers any way?
You will arrive, and it doesn’t matter how old you look they will scan your ID, many times. You will come in, and still, not a single smile from them. But the rudeness hasn’t arrived yet, they will turn mad specially if you put your coat or purse on a table/​chair and dance around it. They will claim it’s not safe, but the real reason is: they want you to use their cloakroom (£2 per item).
I have never ate here, but they do have a menu. Although if it gets as expensive as the entry you should rather spend your pounds in a nice restaurant, and Shoreditch has plenty of options.

Decided to go here for my birthday as I’d heard it was a great bar/​club. Booked well in advance for a group of around 18 of us and was impressed with the area reserved and treatment by the staff. Loved the atmosphere, very creative and artsy including a Banksy outside in the seating area! Also liked the great mix of music and crowd of people. Will definitely be back for another night out very soon!
Please don’t be fooled by some of the other reviews, maybe these people were just not very open-​minded about the whole Cargo/​Shoreditch experience!

I’m not a club-​type-​person. We found ourselves at Cargo for a friend’s leaving night and had a decent time. Our group had an area reserved in the covered outside area. It was alright, though the heat lamps hilariously kept sputtering on and off with some trouble. Service was spotty and slow and the drinks during the happy hour promotion were pretty weak which, while sometimes common for promotions, was still a little sad.
The high point of Cargo is the vintage real film photobooth. I might head back just for the fun of some slow-​to-​develop black and white photos. They were great fun!

It’s been a long time when I grew from dancing all night long while drinking vodka & redbull, so I was a little afraid to go to Cargo. Although, a queue to get in for £10 entry, scanning my ID, security search almost as intense as at the airport, then £2 for cloakroom seemed little excessive, but it was better then expected.
The venue is really big, stretched over several different rooms, levels and a garden. Everything is large, so even with the extensive number of visitors, the place doesn’t appear overcrowded. The venue is built for ‘dance all night long’, so the drinks are served in plastic cups, everything is designed purely for functionality and security is at every corner. In terms of the music, it was predicable easy mixture of 90’s hits combined with house and remix. So if you want to dance all night long (translate as 3am) go there — it’s fun!
I was impressed that the toilets had toilet paper and weren’t blocked even when closing time.

Le Cargo est une boîte/​bar dans l’esprit très londonien, aménagée à l’intérieur d’un pont, à l’ambiance assez underground.
La musique est fidèle aux attentes: techno et house de puriste, très forte, efficace mais pas vraiment accessible à tous. Si vous êtes plutôt tubes et sons commerciaux, ce n’est pas fait pour vous.
Le vrai avantage de ces boîtes c’est qu’on né se prend pas la tête. Pas besoin de venir sur son 31, pas besoin d’être accompagné (en tous cas sur prévente), les gens né sont pas là pour se battre ou vous prendre la tête… Tout le monde est défoncé mais l’ambiance est très bonne.
La terrasse doit être très sympa en été: elle est immense avec plein de banquettes, des BBQ, un bar. En hiver c’est en revanche nettement plus rude: le manteau étant au vestiaire, il faut bien du courage pour s’y aventurer. Les gens restent donc à l’intérieur et le Cargo ressemble nettement plus à une boîte qu’à un bar.
Les consos et tarifs semblent plutôt honnêtes.
Si j’ai l’occasion d’y retourner un été, la terrasse me fera peut-​être rajouter 1 étoile!
En attendant, ça reste un endroit cool si vous passez un week-​end à Londres entre potes.

The décor could do with an update. I’m not sure if its supposed to be like this as some kind of cool style thing or if its just genuinely worn out…
The music is ok. A bit on the loud side. I know my review is making me look like a grandpa and maybe I am but there are plenty of other places I’d rather to; McQueen and Golden Bee to name a couple…

Je n’ai testé que la partie «club» un soir d’hiver.
L’entrée c’est £10 sans boisson. Pourquoi pas, après tout ce n’est pas juste un bar.
La musique est vraiment expérimentale, si on est plutôt mainstream, mieux vaut éviter.
Quant à l’espace «club» où ça danse, il faut être dans l’esprit underground et aime le son fort, très fort.
A réserver aux chevronnés de la nuit!

Excellent concept, plusieurs salles et ambiances.
Une grande terrasse avec des barbecues pour burgers. Super clientèle de fêtard. Photomaton au fond de la cour.
Des concerts, de la musique indé et club dans la nuit.
Les employés sont sympathiques.
Un peu trop d’attente à l’entrée lors de grandes affluences et manqué une petite clim’ à l’intérieur quand il y a du monde. sinon, c’est tout bon.

The best place in London! Good music, DJ’s, people, cocktails, foods… The best is in summer in the garden! I Love this place… Forbidden to miss it if you come around East London

Le Cargo était un club absolument parfait jusqu’à il y’a peu. Je né sais pas si il y eu un changement de propriétaire au début de l’année mais pas mal de choses ont changé: les prix d’abord avec les vestiaires qui sont passés à 2£ et les boissons qui étaient jadis à un prix convenable ont maintenant bien augmenté. Comme dans pas mal de clubs, les videurs jouent leur rôle de méchants impassibles. Dame Pipi propose des produits de beauté et des bonbons dans les toilettes en échange de tes économies du mois…
Pour ce qui est de la musique par contre, cela dépend vraiment des soirées. La majorité du temps c’est de la musique électronique et l’ambiance est vraiment sympa.

Fan de latino c’est l’endroit avec beaucoup de musique tournant autour du latino. Mais je n’ai jamais vu une boîte fermée aussi tôt 1h… j’ai halluciné car c’était très bien en plus la déco est terrible avec une entrée voûtée et deux immenses salles de danse. Dommage.
