Well, it’s a Carluccios so the experience should be same everywhere, right? Alas no. Every time I come here, it’s not quite as good as it was last time. The service isn’t quite as organised, the tables are messier for longer, the food isn’t quite as good. It’s not bad, buts nothing special. Sort of Italia-Lite…

Mixed feeling… Started by the great Antonio Carluccio, Carluccios once a deli, next door to his famous Neal Street restaurant, sold excellent Italian foods that were a cut above the rest. Now Carluccios is owned my a big Corporate investment group. It still has some of the original quality but I have experienced quite a lot of moody staff here and at Russell Square. The food is ok if a little pricey and I don’t really get why people love it so much and why it’s always so packed. However they still sell some lovely stuff in the deli and at Christmas their panforte is the best.
