The Champagne bar is packed and loud and noisy, but we booked a table in the Champagne lounge, much more civilised and relaxing. Share a magnum if you can afford it, as it goes a long way between 5 people. The magnum bottle looks much smaller than I expected, but picking it up, it is very, very heavy! Luckily, the waitress is very unobtrusive and keeps topping you up as soon as your flute glass looks empty. A pleasant way to spend three hours drinking and chatting on a Friday night to start the weekend, or great as a celebration.

Catch is a champagne bar in the Andaz Liverpool Street. It’s gorgeous. It’s swanky. It’s just one of those places you have to expect to be limited and overpriced based on the very concept of the bar in order to enjoy. Location is lovely for an after-work drink. Near all the banks, next to the tube station. High ceilings, glowing lights, large glasses, and an abundance of one thing: champagne. That’s pretty much it. No other spirits on the menu here. Just some champers and a few bar snacks. The selection isn’t terrible, but the prices are steep. It’s around 13 pounds per glass, which works out to be about $ 16 – 18USD depending on the kind you choose. If you’re staying at the Andaz, simply add these glasses onto your hotel bill and look the other way. Denial is the best way to deal with one’s nightly indulgences(until you check out of the hotel and realize that you’ll probably be eating ramen noodles and water for the next two months). Catch is best for: an after-work drink, a pre-dinner drink or a place for a business meeting or catch-up with a friend(nice pun, eh?). DON’T go there at 11pm on a weeknight. It’s full of drunk creepers who are being served champagne when really they should just go home and go to bed.
