Merton High Street isn’t the most promising venue for a nice eaterie, but the Cedar is a real find in this area. It’s a small, family-run Lebanese restaurant, offering an extensive range of middle-eastern dishes at very reasonable prices. Long banquettes with cushions and moorish lamps add to the ambience. You can opt for a range of mezzes, or try something more specific from the menu. Plenty of vegetarian options. I’m not a great fan of Lebanese red wine though, and would suggest something a bit more mainstream. The service is friendly, efficient and attentive. Expect to pay around £20-£25 a head for two courses with wine and coffee.
