If you hate queuing for food, especially if you frequent Four Seasons on Queensway for its roast duck rice and always, I mean, always breathe a ‘sigh’ when you see about a trillion other people waiting to get in, in front of you… then head to Whiteleys a little up the road and pop up the lift onto the 2nd Floor where you will an empty Cha Cha Moon(Rulb*)(on a weekday lunchtime, when I went). The beef hor fun is reasonably tasty and will fill you up at lunch time, and the cha cha mooli(char kway kak for you Penangnites, well, almost!) is simply delicious… Stark décor, with auto scented water mist spray is a novelty, Its cavernous and cool, and the waitresses are efficient and friendly. A no-nonsense modern eatery, whether dining singly, or in a group. Harbin beer is a bit tasteless. If you hate crowds. this is the place to go. * Cha Cha Moon is reverse of Moon Cha Cha in Cantonese, meaning Blur(ask any Singaporean or Malaysia what that means, no its not a pop band) hence this place is actually called Rulb in English.

There’s a kind of casual, modern, low-key Asian aesthetic at Cha Cha Moon. I quite liked my food(Monk’s Vermicelli) and the prices were fairly fair here. The staff was a bit weird, though.

Quite nice with a choice of more unusual dishes. I had tea smoked chicken with noodles. Followed by scallion pancakes and a mixed fruit and vegetable juice. It was something I had not eaten before despite being a Chinese food fan. Strange seeing water being sprayed from the bamboo ceiling but I should have asked the staff what that was all about.

The downgrade is complete. I have decided that you do indeed get what you pay for. Maybe I’ll try again with a hangover. I’m sticking with three stars, but they are very close to being downgraded… The only thing saving the third star is that both people on either side of me had something that looked good. I have learned that you really should skip the healthy options and go for the fried noodles.
