What a little hidden gem! Thanks Unilocal for helping us find Chi Noodle Bar. We spent the weekend in London for my husband’s birthday and were looking for some good food near St. Paul’s Cathedral. The map pinpoint makes this place a little hard to find — it’s two doors down an alley, but it is so worth the hunt. We’re both vegetarian and at first glance the menu looks slightly limited, but the owner was waiting on us and mentioned that nearly any dish can be made vegetarian. What great customer service! My husband ordered Pad Thai and I got a delightful noodle salad with fried spring rolls on top. We split an order of vegetarian dumplings as the starter. I wanted to put ginger sauce that comes with the dumplings on everything. The seating and décor are nothing to write home about, but it is comfortable and private enough for good conversation. Do yourself a favor and check out Chi Noodle Bar.

We ordered dumplings and the duck crisps as starters and they were really yummy. I ordered the crispy noodle with duck. The portion was very impressive for price. Really good value for money. However, I can’t say I found the dish that tasty. My friends found their dishes really tasty so maybe it is a one off. I am willing to go this place again and try another dish. I would recommend this place as it good value for money. Service is good and staff is friendly.

They serve from noodle soup to crispy noodles. I had Duck crispy noodles and it was very tasty indeed, good size portion and hot. Only one criticism plate was cold and I like hot plates. Prices of meals reasonable approx. £8 each. I would eat there again.

Pleasant atmosphere, nicely tucked off the street. The duck spring rolls were inventive. Singapore noodle dish was reasonable, but not spectacular

Spicy chilli Squid was nice. Pork pan fried dumplings very tasty. Duck crispy noodles after I turned the noodles around in the sauce and softened them some was very tasty. Hubby had his usual beef noodles he gets all over the world. No complaints. Service was friendly and again no complaints. All in all– a definite recommend.

This is my local, and I know the owners and staff really well. The food is very good, and very affordable… Easily get away with £35 for dinner for 2…

Beef kway teow is a tasty beef ho fun noodle stir fry dish. Kind of like a healthier Beef chow fun(dry) and I haven’t found anything like their crispy duck rolls in SF and surrounding bay area. The above warrants giving a good rating because I hope they are still around next time I visit London and need an asian fix!

Hidden and worth it! Duck rolls for starters– interesting, tasty Main dishes– big portions; we had fried noodles and their red curry with prawns– both very tasty and tasty-looking. You should try the vegetarian noodles with tofu– yummy We definately recommend it to all.

I would give food a 4 stars but front service a 1 star. The woman is probably a manager or owner and was in the middle of schooling one of her employees. She ignored me for a good 5 min until I asked her about a table. She then gave me an attitude. Once I sat down, the service is fine.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots in the City. Their takeaway menu takes about 5 – 10 min to prepare, but there is never much of a queue so it is quite reasonable. My favorite dishes are the roast duck ramen(the soup is amazing, and the duck is so nice), the beef kway teow, and the mee goreng, but I have tried most of their stir fried noodles and never been disappointed. At first the location is a bit hard to find but once you’re you make it, you won’t stop coming back!

I just ate here and was pleasantly surprised by this wonderful restaurant tucked away in an alley. They had fantastic food and a nice selection of Asian beers. I had the Singapore Noodle dish which was delicious because it had a mild-medium heat level, plenty of food, and was beautifully cooked. I would recommend.

Been three times to have noodle soups. I’ve had the Beef Brisket, the Wonton and the Laksa(sp?) all three are easily among the best I’ve had in London. I find myself wanting to go there every day.

have to downgrade this. lunch is always great but went back for dinner and the vibe was terrible. TIP: don’t go their after 2pm! We sat at a table, and after waiting 10 minutes, i had to get my own menu whilst the only 3 staff talked behind the bar. The wife’s salmon was like cardboard and she sat there for 20 minutes, without eating, waiting for someone to ask how her food was. Anyway i finished my meal and they tried to take both our plates away without asking why she didn’t eat a bite they were kind enough to take the salmon off the bill, however, she would have been happier to get a different dish 20 minutes earlier than leave feeling hungry…

I am a big fan of fried noodles an this place does not disappoint with their beef kway teow. My friends and I were looking for a near by place to have dinner and I suggested noodles — my other favorite food sushi was not an option as not everyone in our group of four enjoys sushi. Looking up noodles on Unilocal we found this place, with some assistance from google maps — it is a hard place to locate given it is in a lane way. We ordered appetizers and mains for the table, all of which we enjoyed. Highly recommend the Salt and Chilli squid — nicely battered and served with an excellent dipping sauce. The spring rolls were also very tasty, with a yummy coating. The pork dumplings were average and needed a tastier wrapping. The curries were also very good with a good amount of kick. My only complaint was that the service staff were slow to take our order after we were seated — but easily overlooked as the food was very good and served in a comfortable inviting atmosphere. If you are looking for asian fusion — Chi Noodle Bar is highly recommended.

Looking over the menu, the place reminded me of Hare and Tortoise which is a pan-asian flare of pretty much a mix of all asian food. The downstairs restaurant is absolutely empty during dinner, but it’s quite good if you want to grab something quick and quiet around the area. I started out with the prawn toast and it was huge. I was afraid I wasn’t hungry to eat my main anymore. It was pretty good but think it’s tough to get this one wrong. I ordered the seafood crispy noodles and it was pretty good — as everyone says huge portions so I’d recommend not bothering with a starter if you even want to think about finishing your main. It had lots of seafood and veggies but thought it was just a tad bland. Have no fear, a little chili oil will spice things up! Perfect — the noodles were crispy the way I like ‘em but eat ‘em quickly ‘cuz it does get soggy rather quick. It was really good value for what you pay — kinda reminded me of Hare and Tortoise.

While the quality of food remains good, recent price rises have made it a less attractive place for casual lunch and more of a treat to catch up with friends and colleagues.

Hidden down an alley on a busy road, it’s easy to miss it. I love the location, as it reminds me of entering a speakeasy or some secret spot. It’s decent for an Asian fusion joint. The food’s tasty and the service, fast and friendly. Only downside is that they skimp on meat in some of their noodle dishes.

Consistently excellent Asian food in the heart of the City. They do a takeaway service which is particularly popular with local workers at lunchtime. The eat-in area is pleasant but nothing too special, although it’s nicer than the Wagamama style of sitting with complete strangers.

I love the Chi noodle bar! As mentioned, it’s tucked down an alley on the west side of the road, so is easy to walk by. A great hint is there is a metal railing on the side of the road — the alley is behind that railing. Chi Noodle bar has large portions and during lunch they know that you have limited time and are quick, quick quick! Everything I’ve had has been good — personally my favorite dish is the salt and pepper squid!

Excellent lunch for a new york boy :-) i have been in London for close to two weeks and this was easily one of my favorite meals. I had the Chicken Katsu Curry — the curry was excellent. I may have try the chicken grilled, over panco crumbed and fried next time. I also dig the selection of asian beer — Tsing Tao — yum yum give me some!
