China Boulevard

Went here for dim sum — unfortunately, while the portions are bigger than usual, and the prices quite competitive, the quality is poor. Much worse than you will get even compared to the typical run of the mill Chinatown dim sum place.
China Boulevard would have gotten two stars, except that there really isn’t any other decent dim sum places or Chinese restaurants in this part of London.

It’s in a nice but unusual location for a restaurant like this. This reminded me of places I would typically find in Flushing, NY. I went there for din sum a couple of months ago and it’s pretty much your run of the mill dim sum place. Whats great is that they have specials.

I came here last night for my very good friend’s wedding banquet.
Firstly, the location is really good, right on the river which in the summer especially I imagine, is really nice.
The food here was so so good, simple ie dishes I’d heard of, but done really well.
My wife is vegan and they were very accomodating for her and my brother who was veggie also.
The service was really good, and there was always someone on hand ready to top glasses up.
My *only* point would be the music was slightly off-​kilter, with 80/​90s easy listening, but aside from that, a very good dining experience.

How fitting that this should be my first review. China Boulevard was the setting for the reception of my best friend’s wedding a couple of weeks ago, and boy was it good!
The service was absolutely incredible; there was always a member of staff nearby primed to refill your glass as soon as it got anywhere near empty. They buzzed around serving and changing things without being intrusive and they always had a smiles on their faces. The tables were beautifully decorated and they were really attentive to the details.
The food was better than expected, not mind-​blowing but better than average — mind you, I’m not really a fan of Chinese food. The chicken satay was my personal favourite. The spare ribs were delicious; I didn’t really like the wrap for the duck, I thought it was too thin and kept breaking up. If you like sea-​weed you’re in for a great night! There was plenty of that to go around. I can’t really give you a guide to price, sorry :(
It’s placed perfectly. It overlooks the Thames, so there’s plenty of opportunity for
snaps with the river in the background. An unlikely setting, but it worked.
p. s. the toilets are very clean — very good, they were.

Visited China Boulevard last week for a big meal and wasnt dissapointed. The portions came correct, the doggy bag was bulging and i was rolled home.

China Boulevard isn’t exactly the easiest restaurant to find, nor is it in the swankiest location you’ll ever see — you’ll have to wander past Holiday Inns, a huge B&Q unit, Wandsworth’s mini-​ring road, and quiet residential flats — but that’s just as well. We can’t have everybody finding it.
Possibly because of their out-​of-​the-​way location, everything at China Boulevard seems to put just that little bit of effort in. The staff are some of the friendliest I’ve experienced, while service is quick and efficient and there’s plenty of space for large parties. What’s more, given it was early evening and midweek on a Wednesday, the place filled up quickly.
All good signs and these were backed up by the starters from the feast menu we ordered from. The sesame prawn toast was delicious, as were the ribs and dim sum, while the crispy duck pancakes were quickly demolished. Ok, they weren’t world-​beating but they were very tasty indeed.
As for the mains, the chili prawns easily stood out as simple yet effective with a real kick, while the stir friend vegetable medley was decent. The chinese chicken curry was delicious and arrived bubbling in a pot. The only bum note were the pork rib meat, which was a bit too fatty and chewy for my liking.
At £22 a head for the feast, it’s very good value for a large group (and defeated these two greedy eaters. We left with a bulging doggy bag) in a rather pretty setting by the Thames, if you ignore the walk from the train station.
It’s tasty, efficient, and all rather understated. And rather good at what it does too.

I have gone to this place for dim sum on the weekened and it is always quite busy, and plenty of Chinese people eating there, which is a very good sign.
There was even a Chinese wedding celebration while we were there, which was very cool.
That aside, dim sum there is great. I had a Chinese friend checking the menu for me and order for us. That saved us since the menu had too many options, especially when you are not too sure what each is. So now I know what I like I usually order the same stuff every time, and it is always great.
Although the price is not expensive (it will depend on how much you order!), there is a one-​off 50% off food offer with Tastelondon in case you would like to try the place. It is well worth it with the offer, it could then be like £5 per head.
The location is very nice, on the riverside, which you can enjoy after the meal.
And the building is big and spacious. I would recommend for you to book a table on the window so can enjoy the riverside views during lunch.

I visited China Boulevard for dim sum one afternoon and was really impressed. Though a little tricky to find, tucked away near the river, it’s beautiful and surprisingly spacious inside. The staff were very welcoming, and the restaurant was busy even though it was the middle of the afternoon — always a good sign! I was with a Chinese friend who rather handily ordered for us — there were so many dishes that I think it’d have taken me half an hour to read the menu and choose what I wanted otherwise! From various types of dumplings dumplings to spring rolls and sweet buns with custard inside, the food was perfectly cooked, tasty and nicely served. It was quite expensive — £17 each, which is a bit pricey for a lunch, but it was nice, and we ordered a lot! I’d like to go back and try the evening menu. They also do takeaway.

Now here is a place that is not that well known probably because it is hid away on the river front, however one stroll down the river and you will not miss this place, it is huge. I gave it 3 stars, not so much for its food which is really hit and miss depending on what you order and definitely over priced, but for its location and great river views.
This is a huge restaurant that I read could seat 400 people. It has a really spacious atmosphere rather than a traditional oriental one. Make sure you reserve/​get a table by the window if you can (you will have more chance of this if there are four persons)
For starters we had the steamed Vegan Dumplings which you have to order for two people minimum (£4.80 per person) and the vegan satay 3.90.
I then had the spare rib with pineapple 6.80 which was actually really good. My girlfriend ordered the Pei Pa Tofu 7.80 which she said was good but not worth 8 pounds.
For vegetables we ordered the choi sum 6.80 which was a bit boring, again over priced and lacked flavour.
The food is presented really nicely and looks better than what it is. However, it is a good place to chill out by the river, have some green tea and a choice from the menu after a long river walk.
