Clarks

These kids selling shoes take a lot of flak from their int’l customer base, and, usually, keep their composure. So props to them.
I found a pair of shoes (right size, wrong colour) up at the Kensington high street shop, and was told that I could order the pair I wanted, or I could check in with the Oxford St. store as they are a ‘larger store’ and should definitely have the shoes in stock. Oxford St., too, were out of the shoe in question, and, again, I was offered the delivery service. I went for it this time and the shoes were dispatched quickly. The only bummer was that I wouldn’t be able to collect the shoes at my home address on the appointed day. I rang and, because I work and live in the same post code, was able to have the delivery address changed to my work one.
The delivery person who came to the shop brought only one parcel for my boss, but nothing else. He then asked me if I were expecting another parcel. I said that I was, and gave a description. Apparently, his hand-​held device showed there to be another parcel, but he couldn’t find it in his van. I gave both my name and, again, a description of the packaging. He dutifully checked the van a second time, coming back to the shop with my shoes. The shoe parcel was addressed to my home address (that I thought I had changed with the customer service gal), and were it not for the delivery person asking me if I were expecting another package to be delivered to the shop, I wouldn’t have so easily obtained the lovely Clark shoes that I now enjoy and that occasionally pinch my toes.

I love Clarks shoes. They’re very comfortable and so well made I’m still wearing a couple of pairs I bought more than ten years ago. My husband always tries to steer me to the opposite side of Oxford Street when we get near this shop because he knows I can’t go in without buying something, but he knows it’s a losing battle. I rarely leave London without a new pair of Clarks, and this is where I usually buy them. They have a good selection, the staff is patient and friendly, and they always seem to be having a sale.
