I stopped by clutch after dropping by Columbia road flower market because my mates and I were famished on a cold Sunday morning. I walked past it before and was attracted to the cheery exterior of the building(bright yellow!) and thought it was some sort of hipster house. Turns out they serve pretty good chicken! It’s pretty affordable, at about £12 a bucket of chicken, which sounds steep, but when you bite into the chicken, boy are you in for a roller coaster of tastes. We tried their spicy wings and their honey soy wings, both of which left us with incredible mouthfeels. This is perfect for a rainy day(and lord knows how many of those we get in London), a great spot to stop by for chicken if you’re in the area! Staff were also very friendly and lovely to talk to, plus the interior décor really makes you feel warm and cosy inside. Love it.

This should be a no star review. Why no star, I hear you ask. Well, because there was no chicken Clutch is in the middle of nowhere and far from home for me. They normally only serve dinner but I was very happy to see that they were opening 12 – 12 in Dec. So, I booked via Opentable got my reservation confirmation I git there early to find the door locked. Stayed til my reservation time of 12.30 with no further signs of life I rang and someone answered. Apparently they were fully booked for a private event though there was no sign of life at the restaurant Long journey. No food. Should be no stars

We really enjoyed our time at Clutch. We had a reservation for seven, but ended work a bit early so rang to see if we could get in earlier. The staff were very accommodating to our reservation change. It was a Tuesday night so the restaurant was quiet, but hey how often do people want fried chicken on a Tuesday?! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I can be really indecisive and she helped me make selections and seemed to have a real passion for the food. She described everything as ‘gorgeous,’ which was a just description. This isn’t your typical fried chicken restaurant. The food is cooked in ground nut oil, which means that you actually feel healthy eating fried chicken. Despite being fried, the food isn’t greasy at all. However, if you have a nut allergy this restaurant probably might kill you! The food even without a nut allergy is to die for. I had lemon and parmesan breast fillets while my husband had soy sauce and chilli wing/leg combo. We both really enjoyed the food and I think that I may have stated that it was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! We, thankfully, had room for desert as the brownie was incredible and topped with a candle as a special birthday treat(it was my husband’s birthday)! I was very happy to have chosen Clutch to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we really had a fantastic evening. I would happily return to Clutch and I am rarely someone who eats fried chicken!

Last night, after a few months of eating only veggies and sometimes fish, I decided I wanted fried chicken… Not the fried chicken you get at the chicken and pizza shops that reek of rancid oil from a block away. No, I had my eye on Clutch, known for their free range chickens, yummy marinades, and amazing sauces. Oh and the service is warm, welcoming and attentive. Yes, we approve! I loved the honey sesame wings. The sauce is finger licking good and the wings were still crispy. Side note, the place is really fancy inside. We felt under dressed as everyone looked pretty and prepped for a nice date, while we were getting down and dirty with our chicken. The spicy wings were balanced perfectly with a crème franche sauce. My husband loved the soy garlic chicken. It was crunchy and salty. It didn’t feel super healthy, but seriously it’s fried chicken people. I recommend you try it.

Clutch is clutch. How can you not enjoy some delicious chicken? You can’t miss the spot, it is a glowing yellow building on an otherwise normal looking street. You can either sit outside in their faux-garden if it’s nice or grab one of the long tables inside if it is not. Either way, you’re going to rock some chicken. And chicken they do well. It’s a simple meal. Do you want the full chicken. The wings. The tenders. Whatever it is, you can get it. And in lots of different forms — fried and plain. Sauced. Spiced. Mmm. And each of the chicken comes with their own sauces. Get more sauces than you think you will need, you will enjoy all of them. It’s a trek to get here for sure(and I live in the are and it’s still a trek). But so worth it in the end. Have fun!

This was a cute little place that I would definitely go back to again. I planned on taking my bf out for dinner and was craving chicken, but wanted to take him somewhere nice(not Nandos!) and found this place in Hoxton. We walked in at 7pm and very luckily got ourselves a table. If it were later, we would have no chance! The menu was simple, and I think their signature dishes were so good that nothing more was needed. We went for the half bucket of buttermilk chicken, 12 wings, corn on the cob and beets. The beets were were a great choice, very interesting flavors and I highly recommend it. The amount of food was just right for the two of us. The only downside were the drinks which hardly had any alcohol. If you’re looking for a place to have pre-drinks then this is not the way to go…
