I’m not really into healthy eating, to be honest. I would never deny myself flavour just because something’s healthy. So I was sceptical about Crusssh. A friend dragged me in and I reluctantly entered, prepared to hate it. I didn’t like the cramped interior, which they’ve tried and failed to hide with a gigantic wall length mirror to make it appear bigger. Also, I didn’t like the prices as salads start at £5 and go upwards from there and juices tend to be around £4-£5 and more if you add extra shots like wheatgrass or energy boosters or go for the biggest size cup. But I did like the flavour. I had a Green Goddess juice with organic apple, kiwi, pear, lime, cucumber, spinach and celery and it was like sipping summer through a straw. That’s a great way to cheer up a cold winter afternoon. I also had a flapjack because they were winking at me by the tills. They’re covered in berries and satisfyingly big, so they’ll keep you feeling full for a while. I wouldn’t complain if I went back to Crussh in the near future but I wouldn’t run back there desperately. It’s ok and tasty enough, but not special enough to justify the above average prices.

OK, I’m going to start with a repeat of my recent tip … «Beware of drinks sizes. Medium sized one is labelled „large“ but if you make the mistake of correctly ordering a large when you are actually after a medium, you get served — and charged for — a „full“ size. Confused, staff certainly are!» I’m generally fed up with the fancy names for drink and food sizes and cringe every time I ask for a tall coffee — what’s wrong with small, medium and large?! I realise this is not specific to this particular branch of Crussh but staff managed to get is completely wrong on this occasion. Their tropical crush juices are the only reason I occasionally cross the road at this dead end of Kensington High Street, enjoying a sip of pineapple, ginger and coconut(I think that’s what it’s made of — definitely no bananas, I hate bananas!). I’ve been to other branches and enjoyed their lunch offers, but this outlet is too sad to sit in. Mind you, you could always opt for takeaway and enjoy your lunch on a bench in Hyde Park across the road. I think I’ll just have to revert to pointing and grunting to place my orders to avoid misunderstandings from now on.
