I knew when I joined this gym it was over priced but since I could see it from my living room window I figured I would go all the time… and like most people at first I did, I also blamed my initial shock at the price vs quality on being from NYC where gyms are taken very seriously. However, it is by far the most disgusting gym I have ever been a member off. For how much they are charging (100+ per month), the place should be clean and have nice equipment. Some of the pieces in the basement 2^nd floor have peeling hand grips and equipment is always broken. When they show you around they make it seem like they have the latest technology with TV screens installed in SOME (25%) of the gym equipment. My old gyms have had this for years– with cable channels. In fact, my previous «cheap» gym (25 per month) had them on ALL the machines and more channels.
Overall, it feels like a bad 80’s reject and it needs a full remodel. While it is spacious and you never have to wait for a piece of equipment, it is just disgusting with missing paint, chipped walls. If it were a hotel it would be a 2 star at a 4 star price! Dirty hallways, bad carpet. I can go on and on.
I am thinking of downgrading to SoHo or perhaps looking at Virgin Kensington High Street. All I know is that without some good incentives I won’t be staying a member of this particular gym.
