One of the few restaurants anywhere near Bermondsey Street where you can walk in for dinner on a weekend night and not be turned away because you didn’t book! Reasonable prices(under 20 quid for meat mains) and some really good grilled meats and tagines. The kebab sampler is a feast for two to share and for the carnivores will be pleased with the limited amount of veg with it. If you happen to be out with a vegetarian, the portobello and goat cheese burger is a good stand-in for«the real thing». The restaurant has undergone some aesthetic refreshing recently and looks to have some nice new beers on tap which I didn’t recall seeing before. Worth a visit on it’s own or as overflow from Bermondsey Street!

Brilliant place for breakfast and brunch. Food is good, room is comfortable and the staff are terrifically friendly. Extra star because it is dog friendly and a bowl of water was immediately forthcoming!

Absolutely love Del’Aziz for breakfast lunch or dinner! So much great food to choose from — recommend the chicken kebab and any of the dips with the pitta… and everything else! Amazing cakes too and massive meringues. Make the trip, its so nice to be off of Tooley Street and in a place where you might be able to find a table. The courtyard is lovely to sit in if you go when the weather is pleasant.

What I like best about del Aziz is the sheer space. It’s huge, so perfect for outings with the pram. But… not a fan of the food, so much. We went there for a weekday brunch. My coffee was cold and insipid. And I ate something called the frying pan, which sounded quite yummy from the description but was so cheesy and so potato-y that I couldn’t taste much else. Also, I know this may not be something to complain about, but the portion was giant. I think when the recipe is so one-dimensional, the portions should be smaller. Just saying.

I have been here twice for work lunches and both times the service has been appalling. The second visit it just became laughable at how un-organised this place is. The restaurant looks out onto Bermondsey Square and is in an area with plenty of offices which makes you think they should be able to do a quick turn around on lunches. On our second occasion we had booked for 27 people but only 22 people turned up. If you are not capable of serving this many people, do not take the booking. When we arrived the table had been set up as three separate tables rather than one and the restaurant treated us as three separate tables taking our orders at all different times. Our first tables’ orders were taken 30 minutes between the third table(and this was about 40 minutes after we arrived!). The menu has a good variety but while waiting the 40 minutes for my order to be taken we noticed a pita dish coming out that was nowhere to be seen on the menu. We asked our waitress what they were and she told us we hadn’t been given the lunch menu! When we placed our orders we were told that it would take at least 20 minutes for the food to arrive, this combined with our already 40 minute wait for our order to be taken meant for some VERY hungry people. When the food was brought out it was absolute pandemonium. The waiting staff had no idea what they were serving or who they were serving too. Incorrect orders were brought out and one person in our party never even received their food! The food is ok tasting, but not worth the stress of actually getting it. The final stress came when we actually wanted to pay for the meal. I had to go up to our waitress twice and ask her to bring the card machine over. Both times she looked at me completely vacantly and carried on her conversation with another waitress. Considering we had to wait over an hour and half for food the least they could do is let us pay! At this point we just wanted to get the hell out of there! As a gesture of «good will» the manager gave my party a number of free cakes, but even the way they did this was ridiculous! While half of us were still waiting for our main they came and put cakes all over our table. We told them we would not have time to eat them there(we only have an hour lunch) and asked them to be boxed up, only to be told that this would take an extra 20 minutes! The service is appalling and needs to sorted out. I will never be going back again.

What a great little find this was, I was wandering around looking at areas and stumbled upon this place. It looked nice from the outside so we popped in for a hot chocolate. It was delicious and very much on the generous side, there were other people eating in the café side and all the food looked good. The wide selection of cakes in the window would most definitely entice anyone in unless they were on a diet! I only noticed that there was a bar and restaurant when going to the toilet, both of which looked very authentic and inviting. So much so I will most definitely go back when I move to the area. The prices were pricey but from what I seen would be worth it, the hot chocolate most definitely was and my mum has been talking about it a lot since we went.

I live just around the corner from Bermondsey Square now, so I’ve found myself walking by Del Aziz on the daily. Apparently they do quite delicious cakes and coffee, but I haven’t yet made a morning visit. I did drop by for dinner, however, along with the lovely Linzi M. Delicious spicy fries, falafels and halloumi wraps! We randomly chose this place for a quick bite and it was pretty tasty. Mediterranean food = Delicious. Oh — and they give you unlimited free bread whilst you wait. I heart carbs.

Mouldy bread, warm sodas and a manager that can’t even say«We are sorry.» I do love the garlic fries but the service here is just not up to par.

Interesting café/restaurant/bar with one side on Bermondsey Square opposite Gregg whatsisface’s slated restaurant. This place had some amazing looking cakes in the window, and the coffee was served in a giant mug. You can buy a lot of the merchandise, and it seems that they have a big following. I was just glad there was some good coffee on the go while I waited to go into work.

The service is woeful. The food is merely OK. The coffee(when it comes) arrives in comically large portion sizes. Everything is a little too expensive. For some bizarre reason, the place is filled with tourists. But — awfully — I seem to come here an awful lot. It must be the brunch. I just can’t say no to brunch, you see.

I was in a bit of a hurry, we were seeing a film in an hour so I just ordered a main. Problem was it wasn’t a very big main and neither was anyone else’s. I wasn’t even that hungry but an emergency order of 3 bowls of chips was placed. The sausages I had were OK apart from the fact that they repeated on me for several hours afterwards, not in a bad way for me(maybe for the other cinema goers though). Staff were friendly, they had live music and there were plenty of free tables.

Friendly service — check, yummy Moroccan food by the boatload — check, amply proportioned mouthwatering desserts — check, tasteful décor — check. Del Aziz is really cookin on gas. We dined there on Saturday night, but I gather it also does great breakfasts and lunches. MMm. wondering how many of my upcoming meets I can shoehorn into this place!

Del’aziz is great for afternoon tea, you can have tea and a great big slice of rich cake larger than your head for about £8. There is an outside terrace area on Bermondsey Square which is lovely because it’s traffic-free so you can just relax and enjoy the sunshine without busses going past every 30 seconds. The Deli is also very tempting, although it’s horrendously expensive.

Finally, another top contender in our search for the best London brunch! We popped down here on a Sunday and I was already happy with the all-day brunch(to all those cafes who stop serving Sunday brunch before 12, you’re missing the point). I had a fantastic eggs royale, and my partner had the salmon gravlax with scrambled eggs. I think the only downfall would be the eggs — not that they weren’t tasty, but they seem to have been prepared in an egg machine, rather than the usual way(which creeps me out a little). The poached eggs were flat on one side, like they’d been poached in an egg-mould, and the scrambled eggs looked a little like couscous — bit hard to eat with a fork. However, everything was very tasty, well presented, and there was a great range on the menu. If I had to describe this place in two words I’d say«casual decadence». I also love that the tables are set with pots of jam and maple syrup as well as salt and pepper, so if you have leftover toast or muffins you can finish them off with something sweet. The service was spot on and friendly, the vibe was warm and welcoming, and there was no rush. We stayed on for big mugs of fabulous tea while we read the Sunday papers. The dining chairs are like leather armchairs without the arms(so yes, effectively, just chairs)… but it meant we had our great mix of excellent brunch, and lounging with the papers afterwards. Will definitely be going back. Not least because I want to try the pancakes, which looked amazing…

Del’Aziz is(was) one of my favourite places to get a good English Breakfast. The other dishes are pretty good too, and they serve coffee in a huge cup that’s more like a bucket. Just what you need after a night out on the town! Usually the quality is great, and the service isn’t bad either. I swear all the waitresses in here could enter the Miss England beauty contest. The atmosphere is nice too. It feels homely and cosy despite being quite big. Last week I’d have given Del’Aziz 5 stars, but on Saturday morning my sausages arrived very badly cooked. They were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, meaning I couldn’t eat them. This is unfortunate as it means I’ll have to boycott the place for a while. Grrr!

Blimey, they are REALLY developing Bermondsey. I no longer know where to go to get mugged in London… Del Aziz… Hello. It did take a second to find someone who actually worked here — at 12:30 mid-week? — but once located, my host could not have been more helpful. Menus were produced quickly, drinks arrived… all good. I ordered a beef sandwich, but«the beef was still in the freezer». Errrr… OK, I’ll have the lamb. So I had the lamb. It tasted — and looked — like beef. How odd. Delicious, though, with a great sauce and a big, filling sandwich thing. But eating an Unidentified Meat Product is a little traumatic. Quick and speedy service. I sat on the little terrace outside. All very civilised. Cost? £8.25 for a large sandwich and a coke. Not cheap, but not bad value. All in all, a good but not outstanding venue.

I really wanted to like this place. But it won’t makeit past 3 stars, unfortunately. The meatballs with cinnamon were lovely and authentic. Sitting outside was nice too and the desserts were totally oversized and yummy. But the wraps, the chips and the burger were all complete non-nos. They do bellydancing on friday nights. I might go see that.

Brunch was the order of the day and Del’Aziz delivered. This branch(there is another in Southwark at the Blue Fin building) in Bermondsey Square is quite the most delightful. Del’Aziz is a small independent restaurant chain serving eastern and southern mediterranean foods. The design is spot-on and the vibe is cool, trendy and classy all at once. .. . not an easy feat in an increasingly chavvy world. I had the ‘full breakfast’(sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes) and a ‘rise’n shine’ mixed juice(celery, apple, carrot and orange), the other half had cumin roasted lamb with tzatziki in a ciabatta and a huge cappuccino — everything was delicious and spoke of good quality. We also shared a moroccan mint tea which deliciously light and refreshing. We were served promtly and pleasantly by a lovely lady who, I have to say, seemed to be managing ALL the tables(and there were around 15 occupied whilst we were there). .. . there was a lack of other staff around, or so it seemed. That said service didn’t suffer as far as we were concerned. Pricing was reasonable at around £15 a head. Service was good, crisp and attentive. The loos are a delight — tiled top to bottom in red glazed tiles, wth huge mirrors, hidden lighting, L’Occitane soap and wickedly efficient hand-dryers! Disabled access is subtly worked into the shop design — part of Del’Aziz’s welcoming ethos. Oh, and they also cater to my weakness. .. .. vast raspberry meringues!

In order to take advantage of all the yummy mummies and yuppies with too much money, they are developing the area of Bermondsey Square. So in floods an arthouse cinema, boutique hotel and the luscious Del’ Aziz delicatessen chain. Dear God, this place should come with a warning label *Will make you fat and poor*. Part deli store, part restaurant, part sexy bar… it’s stylish and delicious. I just popped in for a coffee and something sweet. They have giant cookies the size of your head entirely dipped in chocolate. Cheesecakes, pastries and the most amazing breads… this is a chain restaurant done right! They bake everything in house and you can see right in the back, where they have stacked all the pies and cakes. I nearly went into a sugar coma just looking at the stuff. But I picked a smoothie(£4.75!) and an almond croissant, what I actually got was an almond biscotti thing. The waitress didn’t have great English but she did bring double cream. Cannot wait to go back and try the dinner menu, it’s very Med/Moroccan inspired.

Hit the spot on a rainy Friday evening when I didn’t want to go anywhere near the hotel restaurant. Bread was fresh. Falafels were good, but not great. The tzaziki was the second best I’ve ever had. The lamb was decent. The sauce bland. The giant desserts were a treat. I’d definitely go here again if in the neighborhood.
