Dmitri Hvorostovsky is a world renowned operatic baritone. Winner of the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and new member of the Gramophone Hall of Fame, he performs all over the world. Hvorostovsky ranks among the giants in opera and can be heard in operatic productions, concerts and recitals as well as the occasional foray into the world of pop.
I was lucky enough to see him this past spring (2014) up in St. Paul in an absolutely amazing recital accompanied by pianist Ivari Ilja. It was one of the best nights of my life.
This is my 700th review and the one that puts the biggest smile on my face. Americns need to know and hear this wonderous Russian baritone. His voice is a gift from the heavens.
