Fun bar which makes for a great night out on Thursdays with their mojito special. Fun music and nice crowd. Arrive early though, there are long queues.

I don’t know about the drinks here, but the £5 lunch, house burger with fries was glorious. Handmade patty, brioche bun, cheese, gherkins… First rate! Us yanks know our burgers and this is top notch! Seasoned fries were delish as well.

Elk Bar is located in the heart of Fulham and boasts an impressive outdoor seating areas for those rare days when the London climate permits it to be used. The inside is the same as many a London bar with the interior becoming a dance floor later on in the night. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

I wasn’t sure what to expect because this was my first time in Fulham, but I was happily surprised. They have a fantastic outdoor space and it’s a pretty laid back place. Inside they have some big TVs but they don’t overpower the place. Plus: right near a Whole foods. We tried some of the lamb kebabs and they were delicious and came with taziki sauce. I’m not a huge fan of pubs so this is a big endorsement from a mainly non-drinker.

This place is great for lunch — £5 express lunch, always filling and always worth it. The menu changes from time to time(I am not sure how frequently) but some of the items remain the same. There is a garden and BBQ out the back with around 10 long tables that can probably fit a group of 8⁄10 around. The drinks are cheap enough. On an evening they have different offer, a Gin night a taco and tequila night and one of the most popular — Mojito night. Good at the cheap price of £2.95 — not good for your head in the morning!

The first time I went, we had a lot of fun, the drinks were not too expensive and the atmosphere was really nice. The place is made to dance and socialize and the music was good. However it was quite a bummer when the bar started closing at 1am a Saturday night… The second time, we came for the Mojito night on a Thursday. However, we were not the only geniuses to realise that the following day being public holiday, it was the perfect time to have to many cheap mojitos in a bar… in the end we spent far to long in the queue and we realised it would take around an hour and a half to get in the bar(we left basically)! My advice: if the Friday is a public holiday, you better go there very early, probably around breakfast time! The third time… I arrived a bit late compared to my friends so I was alone and the security took care of me really nicely(I love sarcasm). Once inside, we had probably the best DJ in the world, if I had to guess he was not paid for the whole night and started not to give a shit at some point! I mean we laughed a lot seeing and hearing what he was doing but we were happy he stopped at 1am. My advice: just go for a cheap cocktail during the week!

WOW, cheap cocktails do exist in London!!! What a discovery. After all the overpriced drinks I’ve had in London bars, this place was such a relief. Although the great prices are just limited and the interior isn’t astonishing, this is such a nice place for an afterwork or the start of a crazy night out. Mojitos for £2.95 all night on Thursdays, happy hour with two cocktails for one from 5−8pm, tacos and margaritas for £3 on Tuesdays… Didn’t expect this at all! And even if the inside isn’t special, they have a nice terrace outside with lots and lots of fairy lights. Perfect for spring and summer evenings! I had a Mojito and some pitta bread with spicy hummus; just what I needed after a long day at work.

One of my favorite bar in Fulham !! Perfect for an afterwork or for drinks and to dance during the weekend(before going clubbing). I always LOVE what the DJ is mixing(old but classic songs that everybody know and love, new songs that make you dance all night long) ! The atmosphere can be intimate with a lot of spots to sit, but there is also a big table right in the middle to socialize and a perfect outdoor terrace at the back. It’s too bad it closes at 1am on the weekend :(

Recently Elk Bar has introduced ‘Tacos and Tequia’ Tuesdays — Tacos and Margaritas for £3 every Tuesday eve from 5pm. The Margaritas are delicious, sharp and fresh tasting. The tacos have tasty fillings, but I have only one criticism — Old El Paso style hard corn shell tacos?! Soft tortilla tacos would work much better with the fillings, taste much better alongside the margaritas and I’m guessing that the price point wouldn’t be too much different either(arguably less as they wouldn’t have to worry about the whole cracked shell issue?)…despite this, I’m loving the idea!

Made a booking for 8 people, two weeks in advance. Show up with my friends to find that there are no staff available to seat us. Spend the next 10 minutes at the bar waiting for some service. Finally get the bar staff’s attention and say we have a booking only to find out that they gave our table away because, by this point we were«15 minutes late and we only keep the table for 15 minutes» We then pointed out that the table which they«reserved» for us had people already sitting there when we walked in. The hostess was adamant that they were not there until 15 past and gave us the gracious offer to go and speak with the people at the table and convince them that it was our table??? Completely incompetent suggestion and they offered no excuses. We were not going to make anyone else suffer for this restaurant’s complete incompetence so we left and went to Brogan’s down the road. Take your money elsewhere, perhaps a place that actually wants your business. That’s what we did.

Stopped in while visiting London. Ordered off the express menu and was very impressed. The food was fantastic and the price 5 pounds per meal was very inexpensive. The salad was fresh and tasty and the pulled pork was really really good.

You better pop in on Thursdays… … Mojitos, £2.95 all night, guaranteed a fun time out! And their burgers menu? Something you surely don’t want to miss: to sweat those extra calories out you better make sure to step on the dance floor, as the resident DJ mixes old and new tunes until 1am. But! Arm yourself with a mini fan as it gets pretty hot, or if you don’t, a cosy little backyard is at your disposition with outdoor seatings, bonus point you get to see the ‘chef’ operating the BBQ! PS: ID is required at the entry.

Great atmosphere and excellent music and generally a good vibe. Went for a night out last Friday for drinks and dancing and was not disappointed. Definitely worth a trip if you’re keen to put your dancing shoes on.

Elk Bar starts on a good foot by offering a two-for-one happy«hour» from 5−8pm every day — even Saturday. Unusual, and most appreciated. Unfortunately my friends and I have similar(ly concerning) attitudes towards binge drinking and this meant that when one of them hopped off to buy me a cocktail, she didn’t come back with two mojitos and the smug knowledge that she’d only paid for one. No, she came back with four, on the financial understanding that I’d have missed happy hour by the time I was to return the favour and she didn’t want me to be out of pocket. Now that’s genuine friendship. Someone bought shots. Jaegerbombs cropped up. And there was wine. Receipts dictate I bought a bottle for £19.50. I don’t recall the transaction; make of that what you will. This resulted in the dancefloor(I say«dancefloor» — on reflection, it may have just been the middle of the room) being overtaken by a plethora of intimidatingly loud, drunken schoolfriends now in their late-20s who should know considerably better, forcible removal of the birthday girl from atop a table and a selection of the blurriest photos ever to hit Facebook. I don’t think that it’s a particularly memorable bar in terms of music, décor or drinks, but it’s spacious, has plenty of seating, lacks pretentiousness and the staff are friendly(they even willingly knocked up a cocktail which my friend’s boyfriend claims to have invented. I was impressed both by his creativity and their willingness to cooperate). One of the mojitos tasted somewhat bizarrely of aniseed, and post happy-hour the cheap wine ain’t that cheap. But considering the relatively dull location, they’ve done remarkably well to create a bar which is fun, lively, good value and not too naff. Much fun was had by all. And if you can hack it, they stay open until 2am. Although perhaps best to leave when you can actually remember the journey home. Definitely not speaking from experience.

Visited for the first time on a Friday in August for a friend’s birthday. Table had been booked in advance and although the website says they won’t keep your table after 7 if you’re late, we phoned to say our cab was running late so they kindly held the table for us. We had all brought ID(although none of us in the group were under 35) we were not actually ID’d(although later arrivals in our group were ID’d) — I have no issue being ID’d as long as I know in advance to bring some. Our table was situated in a good spot near the back of the pub closest to the smoking area/garden where there was a fabulous smelling barbeque going on. We ordered some food which pretty much most of our group enjoyed although I had to send my chips back as they were stone cold, which wasn’t an issue as our server was happy to take away and get me some new ones. We found the bar staff friendly all evening and the best thing I noted was that you got served very quickly even though the venue was packed to capacity. The crowd was very mixed, some people were quite dressed up and others quite casually dressed but also good was that there was none of this pretentious«no jeans or trainers» lark that some bars have, which I feel is totally pointless! We had a mixture of people in our group of about 5 people as in dressed up and very casual and we all had a great time. The door staff were very polite and friendly. When the beer garden was closed at around 11, people were politely advised to take their drinks back inside and that they could smoke at the front of the pub from then on. The drinks prices are not exactly cheap but pretty much what you’d expect for the Fulham area. Their cocktail jugs are really good value and my Strawberry Bellini was made expertly, I was most impressed! I have to add that they played a fabulous mixture of music all evening to cater to all tastes, lots of old school stuff as well as up to date tunes; there was a lot of singing along going on and many people were dancing. There’s also a complimentary coat check facility available which is nice(I think it’s complimentary as I saw posters for the service in the ladies toilets). I would have given the venue 5 ouf of 5 aside from some of the food being delivered cold to our table(not just mine, another friend, but he was too hungry to send it back and ate it as it was). Also I felt that they could have done with someone checking and cleaning the floors on the toilets during the evening as it was quite wet and slippery(ladies not gents — I don’t expect that in the ladies). I don’t know if there is a disabled toilet upstairs but their toilets are situated on the lower ground floor down a flight of stairs. Overall a really enjoyable night out made even more so by the fact that the venue provides very good customer service.

My taste buds were dancing at just the smell of the BBQ from out back; I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed. It’s the kind of place you want to spend lazy summer afternoons and fill yourself with their delicious beer cocktails, and the best BBQ goods. Feeling gutsy The Mad Dog cocktail was ordered — a mix of frozen margarita and Sol beer, in a cocktail glass big enough to serve two(easily). This enabled us to sit and trail through the incredible menu that had been placed in front of us on a chunky clip board. With wings, ribs in a huge variety of hot sauces, chicken and giant burger galore this certainly was a meat heaven! The Primo XLBBQ, the only one in the country, sent smells souring and the arrival of my ‘Squealer’ burger couldn’t come quick enough. As it arrived at our table, my eyes could not believe the delight that was placed in front of them. This burger was huge; layers of chorizo, cheese, pulled pork, bacon and the 7oz burger were incredible, and melted on your tongue. I had to resort to using a knife and fork. Yes you read that right, a knife and fork at a BBQ joint! The chips were perfect, and the onion rings were cooked to perfection. This will be one of those meals that you wish will never end, but be full up enough to fully appreciate the meaty delight you just devoured.

This is my new local and being as it is I must say I am rather the fan. Its great for a sunday drink and bbq bite to eat. They also have a lot of happy hours and mojito two for one deals as well as live sport coverage(especially great if your an aussie football fan). Staff are great and the ones I have come across know how to make a good drink. This place however does get rather busy on Saturday nights.

Didn’t try the food but it was a decent happy hour spot. Had a few caipirinhas and wasn’t disappointed. They have a lot of drink specials going on and had mixed crowd. I’d definitely go back if I’m in the area again.

Since I live in the area, the Elk has become one of those random places I go when I am too tired to put on make-up and can’t really stand the idea of being squashed into someone’s armpit on the tube. And you know what? It’s fun. The Elk has a great atmosphere, a friendly staff and the crowd doesn’t really care what you look like because on the weekend, almost everyone is drunk, sweaty and probably Australian. Ok, so maybe that doesn’t sound appealing but the Elk does a good job of combining laid back with crazy dancing. And, gentle Unilocal readers, crazy crazy have I danced at the Elk. The cocktails are pretty good and the food is not so great, but they do have a large outdoor garden where you can make friends with smokers and other nare-do-wells. The crowd varies night to night but it’s never pretentious or scene-y. During the day, the Elk can be a nice place to sit and work on your laptop(they have wireless). In conclusion, The Elk is not the best nightspot it London, however… it might be the best nightspot in Fulham. Put that feather in your cap and smoke it, Elk.

Elk Bar — Lively, fun, loud, dancing, packed out, lots of drinking, young. If that is what you want then the Elk has plenty of it, you may have to queue later on, so get there early if you don’t want to. This is one of Fulham’s nightspots and is generally not busy during the day or some nights in the week. Having been in there during the day it looks like it needs a really good clean. Friday and Saturday however are crazy nights, cheap booze, jugs of cocktails, 2 for one offers etc make sure that a lot of people are heading here for a wild night of partying. Unless the standard of food has improved since my visit then I would say this place does one thing well and that is as a party venue for the weekend. On that basis forget the food and enjoy the madness that is the Elk bar. If you want food there is a host of good food places nearby.
