I mean, the food is delicious. There’s no denying that. But. I waited for 20 minutes AFTER my companion had been served her meal for my food to arrive and, well, it’s just a little awkward watching someone eat for 20 minutes while your eyes keep darting to their plate and you have to say, «Oh no, totally, please go ahead. I’m fine!» when you’re actually starving. Even the table next to us commented on how long it took for my food to come. The sourdough toast though, is so, so good. Slightly chewy on the inside, crunchy around the crust — all the yums. But(again). I ordered a sparkling water and when it arrived, I discovered that it had a slightly salty taste to it(as some mineral waters do). I kept on trying to slug it but at one point, I kind of gagged. Embarrassed, I explained the situation to the waitress who shrugged and said, «What can I do? That is what Vichy Catalana tastes like.» Sorry, but the brand of the water wasn’t on the menu(in fact, none of the soft drinks were on the menu) and I was made to feel like a real idiot for not liking salty, bubbling water. MYBAD. She did take it off the bill, but I stuck to tap water in the end. I’ll probably go back … though I won’t order the sparkling water and I won’t arrive hangry. Or maybe that means I shouldn’t go back? I don’t know. This place confuses me.

Just ok, but could be so much better. I’ve tried their coffee a few times. When it’s good, it is among the best in the area, but it is only good about half of the time. The quality of the baristas varies hugely and when they get busy the service is incredibly slow with takeaway coffee being deprioritized. If you do go, you should try their signature ‘stumpy’ The food is tasty, but the portions are small and not good value for money. They offer a mixture of sandwiches and tapas dishes. It is generally pretty quiet, so it’s always easy to get a seat, but with Soho and Covent Garden on their doorstep, there are much better offerings in this area.

I get a discount here with work and it’s right behind the office, so it’s easy. The coffee is pretty good actually and the place has a great hipster, casual vibe. I wouldn’t come here if I didn’t work nearby though. I tried their toast once and it was just okay. The soy latte is what I come for. It’s a good spot for a meeting though because it’s rarely super busy, so there are always tables and it’s not usually too loud.

The newest location of Fernandez & Wells features light, airy, modern décor on a really cool(and musical) street of Soho. The space is expansive, and the food counter, lined with an appetizing array of cakes and sandwiches, is separate from the coffee counter. On this day, service was a bit slow, but friendly. The chorizo sandwich was spicy and savory on a fluffy ciabatta roll, but I could have gone for more of their delicious roasted peppers! The coffee was also very nice(not amazing, but pretty good), robust and acidic, and reasonably-priced.

This place opened last week. It’s an addition to the fernandez & wells franchise that features twice in the Soho area. I generally find myself only drinking coffee at F&W, although I will need to try the food soon to give you guys a more holistic perspective. But the coffee here is great — it’s always been good though. I was slightly disappointed that this particular shop doesn’t do the affogato that they do in lexington st. Sort it out. Their affogato with peanut butter ice cream is killer. I just picked up an ice latte to go considering how warm the weather has been lately. Sadly, my barista ran out of syrup and supplemented my iced latte with brown sugar, which it didn’t really need. The coffee tasted great nonetheless, but I will need to give it another go soon — I’ve been a huge fan of Tap’s iced latte for a while, we could be onto a winner here… So skipping over the food this time round. The décor of this place is brilliant, situated on the corner of Denmark street and a dodgy alley leading down to chipotle and /or shaftesbury ave. The interior looks light and airy, aided by the translucent cubes and open plan. They’ve separated the coffee and food counters; it’s almost like a consolidation of their two soho stores. I could see myself spending many lazy saturday mornings and afternoons here. I’m so glad you’ve set up shop outside of the immediate coffee district(soho) and moved towards tottenham court road and all the guitar shops in denmark st. It’s fairly quite in there now, but I don’t see that being true for long. Great move F&W. Will be seeing a lot more of you in the near future.
