Benefiting from being one of only a couple of restaurants providing Halal meat in the centre of Wimbledon but otherwise Flame is rather unextraordinary and a little bit pricey. I had a lamb doner; the salad did taste crunchy fresh and the meat was succulent but lacking in flavour. Beware that the sauce can easily leak from the wrap and despite paying around £5 for a wrap and drink you may still not be fully satiated by the end of it.

An absolutely fantastic food experience with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere in a squeaky clean shop. The only place I’ll buy kebab in London!

In a class of food that has a bad reputation, Flame is one of the kebab shops attempting to restore the standing of this fast food. It sits in the middle of Wimbledon Broadway and has a lot of competition from fast food joints and chain restaurants right around it. The shop is certainly nicer than an average kebab takeaway with a seating area. You can see that the meat for the schwarma kebabs on the spit is made up of strips of proper meat and not just an amorphous lump of goodness knows what. The shish kebabs are also good. The kebabs are washed down with some nice fresh juices. The next time you’re trawling round Wimbledon for some fast food, give Flame a try.

Flame was always my essential stop off before going home after a night out in Wimbledon. I’m not a fan of kebab shops so i tend to stick to good old chips, pizzas and burgers. The burgers here are pretty good actually and it seems like a well run and clean environment. The prices are pretty good too. I once asked for cheesy chips here(a regular northern take-away option) but the best they could do was offer me a box of chips, which were better than most take-away kebab shop chips in London, with a slice of plastic cheese on top.(It wasn’t actually plastic but you know the ones i mean?!). It was quite funny really and i didn’t mind because the guys in Flame are a good laugh and friendly. They also gave me unlimited amounts of ketchup to make up for their lack of grated cheese.

A shining beacon of those rare occasions when a restaurant’s food actually does look like it does in the picture, Flame Wimbledon is incredibly well-run, with ample members of staff and a good variety of foods on offer. Their lamb schwarma is particularly tasty and their freshly squeezed juices are an excellent addition. If you’ve been clubbing in Wimbledon, Flame is the place you can quench your late-night hunger. You can even pick up fresh fruit during the day. Everything is well-priced, and even though there are several other big-brand hamburger and chicken restaurants right nearby, I have always found Flame to provide all that and more, with a good dose of monetary relief. If you have a taste for spicier things, make sure you ask the proprietor for one of their pickled jalapenos in the serving window.
