GoGo Pocha is a small Korean restaurant located in the Lower Marsh area. We came here by chance, walking down the lane, feeling like lunch. What drew us in was their £4.99 lunch special, consisting of a main meal, miso soup and one side.
We both ordered bibimbap, which turned out to be vegetarian. I don’t mind vegetarian food, but I was really expecting meat in the bibimbap! As for the side, well we didn’t even receive kimchi, just some seaweed — super disappointing!
The bibimbap was okay, but quite bland, even with the chilli sauce. I’ve definitely had better elsewhere! The miso soup however was delicious, but it is not that hard to get wrong…
Service was also slow. The restaurant was very busy but there was only one waitress and one man cooking — they really needed some extra help.
I probably wouldn’t make a special trip back to GoGo Pocha, but if you’re in the area and are looking for a cheap lunch, then it might just suit you.

One evening my friend and I we were on the hunt for a decent meal. After Cubana was a big disappointment, the lower Marsh area is one of Waterloo’s best kept secret (foodies take note) there’s different cafes, pubs and low and behold restaurants!
This was my first Korean restaurant I tried since I’ve settled in London. Back in SF… Korean BBQ is BIG and most of the sushi restaurants in the Richmond district are own by Korean families. (they always told me it’s cheaper to run a sushi restaurant vs. BBQ)
Back to Pocha. They have the Korean staples… kimchi. But I wasn’t in the mood for kimchi. My mate got the chicken with cheese. Interesting. She half heartedly joked with me and said I should get the chicken feet. Ok sista… you’re on! I ordered chicken feet.
To be honest… I was expecting little tiny feet. Like pigeon size. I got about six or seven Donkey Kong size feet (It look like it came from Birdzilla) to my surprise… I liked it! The sauce was tangy… it almost like eating a chicken wing.
My mate liked her dish… fried chicken and cheese… a fatty’s dream. I thought it was pretty good.
The two guys behind the counter were very friendly. One of them explained the restaurant had to move because the building was bought out.
This location is much smaller than their original location. But the food and service was awesome.
