I would give it 4.5 stars but am rounding up. I ordered the mixed grill — fillet with grilled prawns and lobster tail. Fillet was one of the best and softest I ever tasted. Grilled prawns and lobster tail were also solid, though I have to say I’ve had better. I wish they had paired the steak with a half lobster — at times, I thought the prawns weren’t the best match with the fillet. Also ordered sides of spinach and truffle fries which were both good. My boyfriend’s 800g steak was healthy in portion and also enjoyable. Service was absolutely amazing. Our waitress was both prompt and kind. We had fun chats by and by. We really appreciated her attention throughout despite the restaurant being full. Ambience was posh and sophisticated. Behind us, we could see the raw meat in the glass refrigerator room — was very cool. All in all, a great experience and worth the money.

My salad, filet mignon, and sour cherry mess were all delicious. Great food and great service. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

I’m a bit of a steak snob, but this place hit the mark! I ate at the bar and received stellar service(and conversation) from the staff. My ribeye was a perfect medium rare and a very nice cut – flavorful without being too fatty. The creamed spinach was very nicely done – it wasn’t pureed into some pasty green mass. All in all a great dining experience that reminded me of the best New York steakhouses.

I love a good steak and I have tried lots and lots in the UK and abroad. I’ve been to Goodmans twice and can confidently say that the steaks there are the standard that I judge others by. Thinking of the New York Sirloin, truffle chips and spinach just makes my mouth water. It’s simple food but done to a high standard and in my books very hard to beat.

Simply amazing. Do go for the Rosemary fries and the lobster tail as sides for your steak…

Best American style steak in the city. By American I mean thick cuts of corn fed beef with a nice charred crust. If you want the best grass fed beef I suggest hawksmoor. The only place I might compare to goodmans in terms of taste is Cut. But Cut feels like a hotel restaurant. Goodmans feels like a proper steakhouse. The dining room setup can feel a bit clustered. It lacks the laid back private environment of American steakhouses. Goodmans is more buzzy. The starters are not great though. The shrimp cocktail seemed transported straight out of 1970.

This was a top tier steakhouse which I put as good or better than Ruth’s Chris and Morton’s. We went to the City location which was bustling and active sitting for the five of us. Our waiter was a nice fellow who was able to help us understand the subtle differences between USDA and the other offerings which as visitors from the U.S. was new to us. If your from the U.S., try the grass fed Irish/Scottish options. My 12-year old isn’t a big steak eater loved the tastes and enjoyed what he said was the best burger he’s ever had. Everything in London is expensive, and a high-end steakhouse in the city is no different. The wine selection was also wonderful. I had a nice red from South Africa.

We came here on a whim on a Friday night after work. I was feeling like a tasty steak and I have had good meals at the Goodman restaurant near Canary Wharf. The meal was delicious. We both had the Goodman rib eye and shared some truffle chips. Both of our steaks were cooked just as we like them — medium/rare for my wife and medium for me. I had a nice glass of Malbec and my wife had one of their cocktails. This was plenty for both of us and we were nicely full by the time we left. The service, once we were at the table, was good. However, the front of house person could have made a little more effort to find us a table when we showed up. At first, it sounded like we would have a 45 minute wait for a table, even though we could see some empty tables inside(although — they may have all been reserved?) However, we asked another person 5 minutes later, and there was room for us after all.

We go here often for work dinners. I cannot fault it. Always get a great table set apart from the main area, the steak is sublime and let’s not talk about the mac n cheese with truffle — omg I could eat that now at 9.20am. The veg is delightful and cooked well… the wine is superb and just a great meal out! I’m going to book in this week! Mouth watering delightful-ness!

HOLYSHITBALLSTHISWASGOOD! I had the Goodman Rib-eye because its the only slab of steak thats on the smaller side and boy was it massive. I really don’t even like steaks but this place made me change my mind. The BEST chips i’ve had in London, no mayo or ketchup needed here good sir! The best creamed spinach that my compadre even liked and he doesn’t dig on veggies. Just amazing. I CANNOT wait to go back. Seriously. The stomach ache i had from eating too much was SOOO worth it.

«A memorable experience from start to finish»! This was, for my wife and I, our first visit to a Goodmans Steak house and like many, after reading reviews, was very much looking forward to our experience at Goodmans. I decided to resist any food during the day in preparation for my date with what I can only describe as one of, if not, the best steaks I have eaten. A lovely warm welcome awaited us as we entered and after our coats and shopping were put into the cloakroom, we were both shown to our table and informed that our drinks order will be taken shortly. As for the décor, I quite liked it, it seemed very much in tune with what the restaurant is all about. Dark wood, low lighting and just enough class to know you were not inside one of those god awful Aberdeen steak house joints that quite frankly should be prosecuted for false advertising! Our waiter along with our drinks offered us the menu as well as the blackboard proudly showing«cut of the day», allowing us to view what was on offer aside from the standard menu. He then proudly displayed in its raw format, various cuts explaining how the flavours vary from corn fed USDA to grass fed cattle, how the marbling affects flavour etc… We were then left to make our choice. I was dying to see the display of cuts showcasing in a big glass fronted cold store that incidentally, are all aged on the premises and after striking up a polite conversation with a waitress, she asked if I wanted to go inside and have a better view. Well I was not about to turn that offer down and after a few minutes the head chef led my wife and I into the kitchen and through to the cold store to view the outstanding array of ageing beef all carefully labelled awaiting there turn to hit the famous«Josper Grill»! The first thing that hits you when you enter the cold store is the unbelievable smell, very beefy(ya don’t say) but also a sweetness which definitely had the saliva glands working overtime, it was a carnivores delight. He then unexpectantly led us on a tour of the kitchen showing us the grills and answering any questions we had to offer. You do get a sense that the staff are proud of what they do at Goodmans, which can only be beneficial to the end product that is served on a plate. As we both prefer the Rib-eye cut, we were advised by our waiter to opt for the bone in USDA850g to share which was cooked medium rare along with sides we chose of truffle chips(gorgeous), mac n cheese(heavenly) and Josper onions(superb). I’m all for sharing, however just not very good at it according to my wife, so I would probably choose to have my own steak next time in order not to confuse matters of what’s mine and what’s yours scenario that could inadvertently lead to steak knives at ten paces! All was cooked to perfection when it arrived at our table and there was more than enough rib-eye to satisfy both our needs including a cheeky gnaw on the bone which I could have quite happily taken onto the tube for our trip home to further enhance what I already had experienced at Goodmans. The juiciness and flavour of the steak was exceptional, just the right amount of char on the outside to give a little crunchy texture and the soft meaty middle that quite literally sent my endorphins into a spin! I think the waiter got the message after politely asking if all was to our requirements, just by the look on our faces. He simply chuckled and moved on! Two tips: 1. Make sure you have an empty stomach before visiting! 2. We had a reservation for 18:30 which is probably why we were treated to a little tour as it was not overly busy around that time. We have already planned our next trip with friends so the sharing option is definitely out of the window! Well, you wouldn’t want to become enemies now would you.

Came here for a team lunch a few weeks ago. The atmosphere is nice, somehow relaxed and not pretentious. Less flamboyant than Gaucho. Goodman is known for its steaks and so I ordered a steak. The meat was delicious, tender, tasty, well cooked. As sides we shared a selection of chips, mash, vegetables and my colleagues also had maccaroni cheese(which i don’t considera a side btw). Decent wine list, I had a glass of a merlot if I am not mistaken. Nothing amazing to remeber on the wine side, but it was lunch. Can’t comment on price as it was paid by the company, but I think lunch menues are okay, dinner and a la carte on the expensive side of the world(but not crazy, afterall it is London!). The reason why I am not giving 5 stars is that each cut of meat available is really big for a little lady like me, portions are american size and sometimes I am not that hungry(at lunch in particular). Some 150⁄200 grams fillet would be appreciated(I think the minimum is c.250g)! Anyway, I will try to go back for dinner soon: suggested to book, in the weekend this one and the mayfair one are always fully booked.

You get to have orgasmic, tender steak after being presented with a masterclass of the various cuts of meat, glistening away on a chopping board — good for the steak novices like I was when I went for my mum’s birthday. I opted for the sirloin and my knife went through it like butter. The side dishes also made me realise just how much I’d underestimated my ability to get excited over a plate of carrots. We were also spoiled for choice with seemingly endless selection of decent wine in an eye-catching glass display cabinet that reached the ceiling… my kind of wine cabinet. The warm, attentive staff knew enough about the ins and outs of their food to customise to our tastes and make us feel like royalty for an evening. No detail was too small, and they kept bringing us wine, fine tuning our selection until we had the perfect bottle. Top quality food and service, worth every penny without the pretence(I once went to a restaurant that served«mandarin air.» I don’t need that in my life). Would recommend: Frozen peanut parfait with raspberry coulis– like peanut butter ice cream.

Ordered: Burger, Steak and Chips, bottle of Malbec, and 3 sides Price: £35-£55 Review: To start off with — was with my team, and I was pretty smashed when I got here by the time we were done with post work drinks. The burger was so tender and juicy, but the steak was subliminalllllllllllllll!!! Malbec — can’t go wrong. The sides — Asparagus and Spinach and extra chips/fries. Sides were a little dissapointing, but the steak and burger — nomable!!!

Burger or steak… There is no right answer and it’s always a hard decision to make, especially if you’ve tried them before. I think their burger is the best you’ll find in London, if what you’re interested in is the meat. The patty is just fantastic. Toppings are great and don’t overpower the taste of the meat. The buttery bun is also to die for. I always ask them to cook my patty as rare as legally possible. If you ask nicely they may even break those silly FSA rules and go just under medium rare. Steaks are just fantastic. The staff know what they’re talking about so ask for their help if you don’t know which cut to choose. Especially if you choose from the blackboard! With truffle fries, please. Their wine list is just fantastic. Treat yourselves! Goodmans is also great for a drink. Their martinis are in my London top 3.

Hands down the best steak I’ve had on the European continent. Does that make me an obnoxious American? You betcha… I realize that this is very much an ‘American’ steak but damn, its SO much better than what I’ve had in other parts of London and, well, to be candid, all of continental Europe. Its a good place to go with someone else paying as well btw. It ain’t cheap…

Two catches to my review here: 1. I wasn’t paying and 2. I don’t know much about beef But, I do know a little something about mac n’ cheese. Oh yes. And this is gonna be controversial but… this is the best mac n’ cheee I’ve ever had. In the world. I’m sorry my beloved Chicago, my crazy New York, my lovely San Francisco… you have been bettered, by a steakhouse in the city no less. So, before I go on — order the truffle mac n’ cheese here. I don’t even normally like truffly stuff(tastes a bit like, er, well, fungus, to me) but this mac n’ cheese is spectacular. Not too heavy, not too cheesy, good pasta shape choice(squiggles). Etc., etc. Also the steak was marvellous. I’m not actually a big fan of seeing the cuts, but it was useful in this case to prepare myself for the size of what was coming. The menu is slightly confusing — you can order by the 100g, but actually you can only the number-of-100gs the chef decides is good that day. I suspect this might be a ploy to make money, as 600g of steak is a LOT, and they had run out of any less. So I ordered the standard 400g sirloin, and it was huge, delicious, and perfectly cooked. As it should be for the price. All the sides were fantastic — probably the reason I couldn’t finish my steak — go with a big group to sample them all. The starters were nice but basically an error because they just take away steak space… you get the gist here. Inside the restaurant has a good atmosphere and just the right amount of dim light/mahogany/bottles in racks, that sort of thing. We had a very decent merlot for 28 quid, and the service was flawless. Obviously this place is in the city, so it’s probbaly not one for a romantic date or whatnot, but for a business dinner — perfect.

Had a great experience here. Went on a Friday night in a party of about 12 to bid farewell to a departing colleague. The Goodman handled our group well. We had a very nice waitress and several other servers also helped out. The atmosphere in this place is wonderful. Lots of dark hardwood, high ceilings, clean lines, appropriately dim lighting — really no complaints on the ambience front. Now, for anyone who doesn’t know, Goodman City is quite expensive, at least if you’re ordering steak.(You could get chicken or a burger for about £10−15.) An 800g porterhouse will top £50, a 400g fillet will run you £40. Starters and sides are in the £3−10 range. I found the wine list excellent, though, with prices ranging from £20 up to £750. We had a few bottles of 2008 Don David Malbec(my choice!), priced at £28 a bottle. I don’t know a whole lot about wine, but this seemed a fair price given that everyone at the table loved it. I thought the food was great. To start, I had sliced tomatoes with stilton and aged balsamic. Delicious. For my main I had a well-done sirloin on the bone(400g) with a side of rocket salad with parmesan. I also tried some rare porterhouse and sides of marinated cherry tomatoes and sauteed mushrooms. On all accounts the food was delightful. It was a great dinner, made better by the fact that my company paid the bill. I could see myself coming back here but only for a very special dinner. I just found the whole experience fantastic, the vibe, the service, the food — solid. I’m tempted to give five stars, and maybe I will sometime. Highly recommend.

I really like Goodman’s. Huge steaks and great environment for a steakhouse. However this place can get costly real quick. If you want a porterhouse you will be at the will of the chef on what the price will be. The cuts that are over 600g will push your wallet over the 40 quid mark easily. But the thought of a 1.5kg steak… mmmm

Decided to check this place out during the new branch launch this week as we love a good steak. This place did not disappoint from the outset. Very friendly and attentive staff, especially Alleen. Amazing creations by head chef Ollie. We had the Bone in Rib Eye(600g) which had the right amount of marbling creating a wonderful flavour. Crisp new potatoes with onions and Sugar Snap peas accompanied this. The B-52 dessert is an excellent blend of coffee, orange, cream and chocolate — and, as James mentioned, took many tries to perfect.(James having the hard job of sampler!) Had a tour of the ageing room by friendly manager James. It is a tad bit more than what you would pay at a run of the mill steak joint — but the quality of food served here is well worth it.(Also, spotless toilets with marble effect, and Gilchrist and Soames handwash and hand lotion.) — plus they have 50% discount during soft opening at the moment. So get down here quick and try this place out!!!(Works out at about £30 per head for main of Bone in Rib Eye, 2 sides and a dessert with 50% off.)
