We ended up here with a big group on a Sunday afternoon and it ticked all the boxes. Beer nerds seemed happy with the selection of interesting brews, the wine selection was fine, and the food was better than average for pub grub. I was particularly happy with their options for vegetarian Sunday roast. Many places have one option if I’m lucky, and often with no gravy. Grape & Grain had not one, not two, but THREE veggie options(nut roast, veggie sausages and a tart), plus a veggie gravy. A massive plate of tasty food with a load of different items. Music was fun, DJ was an older fellow playing 30s-40s jazz, which was nice to listen to. Main complaint was that the heat was on way too high, so got very overheated, wear layers!

This is a top pub in Crystal Palace. Whether you are a camera member looking for a good ale or looking for some jazz on a Sunday afternoon in the sun or you want a quiet beer in a pub with guaranteed seats to chat with your friends, this is the place for you!

I spend nearly every Sunday evening in The Grape & Grain to listen to the jazz and if that was all the had going for it, it would be pretty groovy but I love this place because the staff are amazing, all of the ales on tap and a really friendly atmosphere.

Ah, my new local. A tale of two pubs. On the one side you’ve got the hipster Westow House, sleekly painted all in black and offering Crab Salads — served with entire crab — and on the other side The Grape and Grain. What a great pub. Proper old school establishment with 50s rock bands of a Saturday night, Billiards board and good old fashioned grub. It’s a great big pub with ample seating indoors and out right on top of the hill on Anerley Road. You can’t miss it. CAMRA’s Pub of the year in Bromley for the past few years, this is a proud pub serving a good selection of ales and largers. It also offered a Bavarian Non-Alcoholic for the Mrs. The food is exactly what it says on the tin(or rather Menu). Simple, unpretentious pub grub that wont break the bank. Here you will find old IPA beermats lining the walls, the classic German beer Bitburger on tap and a quiz night on a Thursday. It’s got a great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff behind the bar. A perfect place for a pint.
