Like many Turkish restaurant in London, Hasan Meze & Mangal feeds you like a king. Portion sizes are large and on top of that they give you a generous amount of complimentary starter of salads and bread. Great place for a large group of friends for sharing. It’s a bit more quiet than many I’ve been to but then there are so many Turkish restaurants along Stoke Newington Road I bet there is a lot of competition. Service was friendly, patient and attentive. I felt like there were more staff than customers so it was always quick to get service. Soon after taking our order the complimentary starters came. There was a large plate consisting of three types of salad, all in a lovely dressing of lemon, salt and olive oil. There was also a chargrilled onion salad in a very vinegary dressing, more raw and crunchy to what I’m used to but it set us up for a larger appetite for the mains. The pitta bread was perfect, pillowy soft and fluffy and came warm. And here is the rest of our order: Lahmacun The Lahmacun was delicious. It was light and airy and came in slices for easy helping. Oh and I’m glad as it was so morish due to the generous topping of beautifully seasoned minced lamb and sweet tomato paste. Cold mezze for one. I had better houmous and dolma, ones that had a richer depth of flavour. They tasted like store bought rather than homemade. Same applies to the rest of the cold mezze but they still came in handy to accompany the other dishes. Yogurtlu Tavuk. My favourite dish of the evening. It consisted of succulent juicy pieces of grilled chicken breast and bread cooked in fresh tomatoes and butter sauce and topped with yogurt. I’m not usually a fan of chicken breast but it was so moist and tender here I actually loved the meatiness. It was not a spicy dish so I could taste the lovely sweet notes of the herbs and tomatoes used, especially in the pieces of broken bread that soaked up all the flavours. With the remaining sauce I demolished it with more bread. Yum yum yum! Yogurtlu Adana. I do love Turkish stews but was worried that my friend order quite a similar dish to mine. However I was glad as this one had much more of a spicy kick to it. It was made with spiced lamb kofte and also cooked in butter sauce, tomato sauce and teared up bread to soak up the lovely juices. The yogurt on top helped to cool the heat which was nice. The kofte was amazing, so much flavours bursting through. Although my mouth was on fire I still couldn’t get enough. Dinner ended with some complimentary Turkish tea. We nearly missed out on wanting to pay the bill but they reminded us and insisted. Such wonderful staff. We were too full for dessert but the tea really helped settled our tummy. It was nice and soothing. I’m already looking forward to my return to Hasan. Next time I will definitely like to try their grilled dishes and their desserts.

Went here with a small group for dinner on a weekday. Wait staff are friendly and attentive. The place is relatively small, but the food is fantastic! Ordered lahmacun for the table and the lamb shish kabobs were flavorful and tender. Other items ordered were the lamb chops and mixed plates. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. Would come back here again except it’s a bit far from central London, but if you find yourself in the area, go here for amazing food.

Great friendly service and the food is top notch. Light, fresh and tasty. Grab the lahmacun for an amazingly tasty meal, you get hooked up with a bowl of salad to go with it. Lots of free little starters and all sorts of condiments come with the meal too, big bonus! Atmosphere is nothing other than what it’s trying to be; fast tasty food with good company, doesn’t need to be anything more.

A real gem of a place. Vegetarians be warned that this is thoroughly carnivorous affai; even the bread is soaked in meat juices! Delicious, plenty of it with attentive service.

Been here a few times as well and can’t fault it at all! The food is great, and there’s loads of it. The lamb chops are possibly one of the best things on the menu, and their puddings are great. Completely agree that the bread is very tasty, especially the red spiced stuff! Mr Hasan goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and all of the staff are fantastic, the service is excellent. And the prices are fair as well! If only it was closer to where I live in London!

I’ve been here twice now and both times it’s been excellent. The food is simple but well prepared, and tastes fabulous. If it wasn’t so far out of my way I would eat here a lot more often, as it’s better and quieter than the usual places I go to for this kind of food, and slightly cheaper too. They also serve a tasty ayran yogurt drink which is definitely worth a try, and the bread they serve with the meal as standard is gorgeous.
